A recent retail loyalty site has offered an opportunity to video game retailers to win free PlayStation 4 and PS Vita systems, among other things. What makes this so interesting? Well, the thing is the listings for the ARV (Average Retail Value) of the Vita and PS4 are lower than usual:
Currently the ARV for the PS4 is $399 and the price for the Vita is $199. However, as you see in the picture for the rules above, the PS4 is listed as being $349 (a $50 price drop) and the Vita at $89 ($110 cheaper!). While a price drop for the PS4 of that capacity seems likely — if not inevitable — the magnitude of the Vita drop seems a bit harder to swallow, unless there is going to be an updated model or if Sony intends to discontinue the Vita altogether. Only time will tell, but the price drop would certainly open up new buyers to the console.
