Deadman’s Cross is a game from Square Enix that has been available exclusively for mobile devices until today. After hitting 4.7 million downloads last year, the zombie apocalypse card battle RPG is now available for the PS Vita. Don’t worry if you’ve already started playing the game on a different device though, because saves can be transferred.

Just like the mobile version, the Vita release will be free to play aside from optional microtransactions, which really aren’t a surprising sight in free-to-play titles nowadays. Here’s the story: in the not so distant future, the world has been overrun with creatures called “Deadmen.” People, animals, and even plants can be infected, which is why Deadman hunters are so important That is where you come into play. Gameplay is broken into two main types: an FPS portion and a TCG portion. In the shooting half, players can wander multiple areas, encounter Deadmen, and take them down. Defeated Deadmen can then be captured and used in the card battle portion, where your collection of zombies can be pitted against others for glory and profit.
With all of that, an overarching story, and music by Final Fantasy composer Naoshi Mizuta, Deadman’s Cross looks like a game worth taking a look at. As an added bonus, players who have played the mobile game but haven’t logged into it since January 17th of this year can get some special items for logging in anytime through the end of March. A Resident Evil Revelations 2 crossover event is also scheduled for February 25th.
