I’m no stranger to grand strategy games, from Total War to Civilization to Crusader Kings. I love the idea of commanding huge armies to conquer vast swaths of the globe. Of course, there’s always something missing from those games; and that something would be fantasy. History is interesting, but it’s always so mundane. Thankfully, Innofame Ltd. has our back with their upcoming game, Empyrean Rule – Rise of the Ancients.
Described as “Rome Total War meets Civilization and EvE Online in a fantasy setting,” Empyrean Rule – Rise of the Ancients is a skill based, real time strategy MMO in a persistent open world where players take control of fantasy armies and do battle in 3D environments. The game has the usual assortment of unit types: Light and Heavy Infantry, Ranged, Cavalry, and Siege Engines along with the usual collection of fantasy races: Humans, Orcs, Goblins, Undead, Dwarfs, etc.
The game is currently in pre-alpha, so we don’t know when it’s going to come out. While I’m not usually a big fan of MMOs, this looks really interesting to me. What do you guys think though, would you play this game when it came out? Let us know in the comments below.
