6) Villager
Villager was certainly a surprise for me. I was aware that fans wanted the Animal Crossing townsman to be playable, but I could never see him, or her, working as a character. Naturally, Sakurai proved me wrong by making the Villager one of my most anticipated characters. The ability to ‘pick up’ anything that’s thrown at you—including every kind of projectile—is certainly something I’m eager to try against my foes, although I’d probably be really crap at it.
5) Robin
Robin was the second new character announced this week and was a big surprise to many. Robin marks the fourth playable character from the Fire Emblem series and offers something very different to the standard sword users. He, or she, is a flaming magic user too! Fire, Wind, Lightning, and Dark magic are at your disposal, which definitely makes Robin one of the most interesting characters in the game.
4) Mega Man
When Mega Man was announced as a playable character, fans of the Blue Bomber most likely wet themselves with excitement. I wasn’t one of them… Honestly. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of Capcom’s iconic hero, but he certainly looks fun to play as. In addition, to have four of the most well-known video game characters—Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man, and Mega Man—duking it out in an arena is something every gamer wants to see.
3) Little Mac
Little Mac had the honour of topping the Top 10 Most Wanted Smash Bros. Character list we complied last year. I couldn’t be more excited at the prospect of playing as him. He’s fast and powerful, with some devastating-looking attacks. He would easily be at number one if it wasn’t for the surprising announcement of the next newcomer, and the most recent announcement.
Who punched out Little Mac from the top spot?! →
