Well fine gentlemen and ravishing ladies, it is time for great rejoicing! It took 43 updates, several months of hard work and a couple stressful moments, but Shovel Knight‘s release is nigh upon us. That’s right, it’s truly official this time that the tin-plated blue knight is headed to the Wii U and 3DS June 26th 2014. Initially it will be released for the American regions of United States, Mexico and Canada with the European release to be decided. The PC/Steam version, also coming out the 26th, is set to be an international release.
More exciting is that the digital manuals are available via the Humble Store. This is available to any that pledged at $15 or more, and it is a truly pretty-looking tribute to the manuals of old. Just note that it does contain spoilers, so purists might want to avoid looking at it until they beat the game. Don’t believe me? Take a look.
Of perhaps more import is the gorgeous design of the physical box, awarded to those who pledged at $50 or more (as I certainly wish I had). Take a look.
Lastly, Yacht Club Games will be at E3 showing it off on the big floor, with perhaps some more updates from the show. I’m certain Richard Ross and Jonathan Higgins will find time to say “hi” to them (lucky devils). To say I am excited by this is something of an understatement. I was the one who first reported about Shovel Knight on oprainfall, as well as it being the very first game I ever Kickstarted. Even better, I’ll be reviewing it for the site after it releases, so tune back in for that!
