Pier Solar HD has been delayed once again. This news shouldn’t be of any surprise to anyone who has been following the game since it was due out last month. Developer WaterMelon has pushed the release date back to June.
Over on their Kickstarter page, WaterMelon has posted a backers-only update concerning the delay. They point to several factors. They discovered several bugs during the Beta test, which they felt needed to be addressed before release. Several last minute enhancements and improvements have necessitated a longer development time than expected, although WaterMelon assures us that these changes were made during the primary development of the game and are not recent additions. Pier Solar HD is ultimately ready but needs some extra polish. Also, once the game is ready to be shipped out, there’s the issue of certifications for each console that it’s being released on. Once they’ve been certified, only then does WaterMelon feel confident in making a release date.
This is not Pier Solar HD’s first bout with delays. WaterMelon had intended to get the game out by December 2013, but that got pushed back to March 2014. In March, news came out that it was delayed into April. And that takes us to today’s news.
Pier Solar HD is coming to the PS3, PS4, Wii U, Android, Ouya, PC, Mac, Linux, and even the Dreamcast. The team would like to release it for Xbox 360 and Xbox One as well if they can get accepted into Microsoft’s indie publishing program, ID@Xbox. They’re even toying with the idea of releasing it on the 3DS.
