Square Enix has released their 3D remake of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years today for iOS and Android devices. This is a remake of the original The After Years released in English as WiiWare, rendered in 3D using a style similar to the DS version of Final Fantasy IV, which is also available on mobile devices. If you’ve purchased FFIV on a mobile device already, you’ll also get a bonus item in-game when you purchase The After Years from the same mobile store.
For those who’ve never played the original WiiWare release, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy IV set 17 years later. Characters you may remember from the original SNES classic make a return appearance, including Cecil, Rosa, and Kain. This game, however, focuses on Ceodore, the son of Cecil and Rosa, as one of several main characters. This release includes all ten chapters of the original, with each chapter telling a story for each of these characters.
If you passed on the original 2D WiiWare and PSP releases or just want to experience the 3D graphics, you can get the game now for $15.99 USD on the iTunes App Store or Google Play Store.
