The hyped Steam Machine that everyone has been waiting years for is getting closer to a reality. A couple of weeks ago, Valve showed off SteamOS, an operating system to be used for Steam. Soon after, they revealed the Steam controller, a unique device that uses trackpads instead of analog sticks or directional pads, as well as a touchpad in the middle.
On Friday, Valve revealed the specs of the beta kits they’ll be sending out to Steam users. For the record, Valve will have a number of Steam Machines, each with a range of specs that will vary substantially from Valve’s own prototype. But the purpose will still be the same: creating a high-end gaming machine.
Here are the specs for the Steam Machines to be used during the first test:
- GPU—Beta testers will receive one of the following:
- Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 780
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 760
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 660
- CPU—Beta testers will receive one of the following:
- Intel Core i7-4770
- Intel Core i5-4570
- Intel Core i3
- RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600 (system), 3GB GDDR5 (GPU)
- Storage: 1TB/8GB SSHD (solid-state hybrid drive)
- Power Supply: Internal 450W 80Plus Gold
- Dimensions: Approx. 12 x 12.4 x 2.9 (inches)
