I went all in this week! With the installation of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 content, I purchased the brand-new Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrade Pack and Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise DLC. I figured there was no better way to start the new year than with all the content that this game has to offer.

It is a dizzying amount of content to have all at once, especially after I only now just feel like I am getting a handle on the base game, but I am excited to see where everything goes. I am definitely going to do at least one day a week of DLC content, and I am going to naturally explore the 3.0 content as I go along.

Animal Crossing is a game that isn’t meant to be rushed but is instead a game that is meant to be enjoyed bit by bit, day by day, as life unfolds.

If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots, you can check it out here.

Meeting Lottie from the Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC.

When I first entered into the game, Isabelle told me a hotel had been built on the island’s pier. She told me she hopes the hotel and the island’s natural beauty will draw a lot of volunteers! Also, when I first exited my home, Tom Nook called me on my NookPhone and told me there is someone he wants to introduce me to at the airport.

I immediately went to the airport and I met Lottie. She told me she used to work with Tom Nook and then he explained to me that she handles everything from interior design to building layouts. That’s…a LOT. She then said they are starting to build custom vacation homes, and she offered me a job. I tried to decline the job, but I was told I was taking it anyway (typical). She then left, and Tom Nook explained to me I can take a flight to meet up with Lottie whenever I want.

After checking out Nook Shopping and buying K.K. Rally and seeing the new LEGO branded items for purchase, I ran into Leif outside. I was prepared to be turned down again…but I apparently have so many weeds he offered to rip them up for 70,000 Bells. I jumped on that opportunity! After I finally was able to change clothes for the week, Gonzo stopped by and I went shopping at Nook’s Cranny.

But the biggest surprise? I saw Resetti wondering around my island. He introduced himself to me, he acted like he had just a little history with resetting, and he announced his Reset Service. He can reset decorative things and dropped items, but he cannot do anything about trees, veggies, weeds, and such. Unfortunately, I bet this also includes flowers.

FINALLY, I ran into Wisp outside. I scared him, he flew into five pieces, and I had to track them down. I asked for something expensive, and he gave me a noble coat. I have no real use for this, but okay.

Setting up a lava lamp in my home.

After everything that happened yesterday, today was definitely a lot more calm.

I spent the day renovating my home, and I added a new lava lamp upstairs. I want to try to really build around the aurora borealis wallpaper I have going on up there, and I thought the accented light would help. I also set up more thing in my home in the other rooms, but that was the big thing that I think really helped to develop one single room more than anything else!

K.K. Slider playing one last song before he moves on for the night in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I was so obsessed with playing Pokémon Emerald (yes, an original cartridge) on my Game Boy Advance SP (yes, original hardware) that I didn’t start up Animal Crossing: New Horizons until almost midnight. It turns out that when you talk to K.K. Slider in the minutes before the clock ticks into midnight, he pushes to start playing as soon as possible. Tonight, he played one of my favorites: K.K. Love Song, and I was the only one who he played it for.

Afterwards, I ran into Gonzo and he hoped that life would treat me right!

Eloise's finished room in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC.

I gave K.K. Love Song over to Goose, and he in turn gave me a paper lantern.

I then decided that today was the day that I would start going to work with Lottie. When I landed on the island after taking Dodo Airlines, I met Niko, and he led me to the office where I met Lottie and the gang. I changed into my uniform, and I got told the company name is Paradise Planning and our goal is to help our clients live out their dreams in vacation homes of their own.

In came Eloise! She asked for a reading room and said there was furniture (a pile of books, a bookcase, and a rocking chair) that I had to use no matter what. I ended up decorating the home with bookcases, a rug, plants, a lamp, music, and a poster. It turned out to be a really cozy home, and I thought it was perfect. And so did Eloise! She loved it too, and I earned 6,000 Poki – the currency of the island – from Lottie for my decorating skills. I promptly bought souvenir chocolates and an owl clock for my home.

After meeting more islanders on the beach, I returned back to Renassia and turned in for the day!

Saharah telling me I don't have enough Bells to buy rugs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Today, Saharah appeared on my island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! (I know, there is a new hotel I need to visit, but I haven’t done so yet. I will.)

I first stopped by Nook’s Shopping, and I bought a milk can for far too many Bells. I then ran into Saharah, and I realized I had 455 Bells left after my milk can buy. So, I ended up fireselling everything I could get my hands on from the island. I tried to bang for the money rock, and I found I had to craft a new shovel first. So, I made a new shovel and then hit on rocks until it produced Bells.

On my way back to Saharah, I ran into Wisp again. Five ghost parts, find them all – which I did. He gave me a cute DIY table. I already had that, and so this one is going to be parked somewhere else on my island so I can make things. I also caught snowflakes while I was looking.

Finally, I found Saharah. I bought mysterious wallpaper and flooring, and I bought enough rugs to get another wallpaper! Afterwards, I went back home, and I changed my plant room into one of the mysterious floorings that has a small river running through it. Totally worth it.

Hugh talking about nonsense inside the Roost.

I bought a wood-plank table, today. I know it doesn’t seem like much, but that is a BEAUTIFUL table.

Leif came to town today, and I unfortunately cannot pay him to just get rid of random weeds for me. I guess that there is still a minimum number of weeds needed for him to jump in to sort things out for me. I did buy a bunch of wheat starters, however, from him.

After burying a new money tree, I stopped into Brewster’s cafe. There, I found Hugh having a cup of coffee! He is such a silly islander, and he is one of my favorites. He warmed me to not use hot coffee to heat up tuna casserole for dinner, and I am not sure what exactly to think about that.

Other than that, I had a cup of coffee from Brewster, and that was the end of my day!

Being thanked by Lucy for helping her vacation home in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC.

Yesterday it was Leif, today it is Flick who is visiting my island! I had a citrus long-horned beetle in my inventory, and so I sold that to him for 525 Bells. That’s a nice sum for a single bug, surprisingly.

I went to work today for Lottie. I flew over to the island, and she told me she wants me to get out and promote the vacation homes. I was instructed to chat with vacationers and offer the company’s services to them. She told me I would “be making deals in no time,” which makes me definitely feel a little odd since I’m basically cold hawking places at vacationers.

HOWEVER, the FIRST vacationer I talk to, Lucy, tells me she has been dreaming of finding herself a vacation home. WHAT LUCK. I played around on a map to help find the perfect place for her doll-themed home, and once I picked said island, we immediately went there. I decorated the outside with a bridge over the water, and I set up all sorts of doll-themed items inside the home and with flower wallpaper and floor theme. Lucy loved it, and I earned 6,000 Poki for my trouble.

So, what did I do with my hard-earned cash? I bought a fence! (Just don’t ask me where I’ll put it up at.)

How are you enjoying the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 content?

Did you also buy the Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise DLC and Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrade Pack content like me? What did you think of it?
