SQUARE ENIX has announced that a free demo is now officially available for DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined. This new demo is available for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. The press release states that players can play several hours of content from the beginning of the game and they also mention that save data will carry over to the full game. The full game is scheduled to launch this upcoming February 6th, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via both Steam and the Microsoft Store.
Along with this announcement, SQUARE ENIX has also put out a new trailer showcasing the demo specifically. Oh and one last thing the press release mentions about the demo, is that anyone who has save data from it when they play the full game next month, will get a special in-game costume for Maribel, called the Day Off Dress. Feel free to check out the DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined demo trailer down below and read a bit about the game from the latest press release.
In DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined, set sail on the adventure of a lifetime as a bright-eyed young hero and his childhood friends, swept away from the peaceful island they call home. Sent back in time by fragments of an ancient tablet, they learn malevolent forces have sealed away entire lands. As they find more fragments and open new routes to the past, what began as a quest for answers becomes a fight for the fate of their world, bigger and more beautiful than they could have imagined.
DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined builds on the beloved original game to deliver a modern RPG for a new generation. Akira Toriyama’s classic character designs have been reimagined into a charming, hand-crafted 3D art style, complemented by diorama-inspired environments and dungeons. The story stays faithful to the original while offering a more streamlined experience and enhanced narrative depth through optional side quests, stories and minigames. The battle system is more thrilling and dynamic than ever, with dramatic changes including “Moonlighting” – the ability to use two vocations at once — plus the adrenaline-fueled “Let Loose” ability and a new Monster Master vocation for summoning monsters.
Players can now pre-order the game across all platforms. Those who pre-purchase any edition of the game will receive the Early Bird Bonus, which grants a unique DRAGON QUEST VIII costume for the Hero and three Seeds of Proficiency, in-game items that improve character stats. Players who purchase the game digitally will receive an in-game Slime Shield that’s unique to each platform. Additionally, a Digital Deluxe Edition, which features 48 hours of early access, a unique costume for playable character Ruff and three paid DLC packs will be available at launch.
