Holidays in Animal Crossing: New Horizons really feels like a ‘hit or miss’ event. There are some, like Carnivale, that are fantastic. And then you have others like…the wedding season chapel business that just kind of missed the mark.

Halloween, though? Absolutely a fun time and one that I didn’t expect to be as great as it was.

The whole month really felt like a build up to it, and I got some decorations (mostly the scarecrow!) that I can keep up year round just for the fun of it. I can’t wait to see what the remaining events of 2025 are like in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

CJ talking about his viewers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Today, C.J. came to visit! He challenged me to catch five fish in a row, and I ended up having to run all over Renassia to make it happen, as I could barely find fish anywhere. It always seems to be that you never find what you want when you need it the most in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

But after completing his seasports challenge, he bought all the fish off of me for 2,475 gil! Not exactly a bad haul. I love fishing in this game, honestly, even though I do wish I could catch more varieties and have some hint of when new fish are out there for me to discover.

I also donated the remaining 39,753 Bells needed to complete a ramp. Tomorrow, I will have another full overland way across the top of my island from west to east and back!

Celebrating the new ramp as a community.

Today, the only thing I did was check out Nook’s Cranny to see what they had for sale, stop by Nook Shopping to keep my streak going and see what that had for sale…

And oh, yeah, celebrate the completion of my ramp! It seems like that is the only time my island all gets together anymore, unfortunately. Either way, it was nice to see everyone celebrate completing another small piece of the island.

Jack warning me about how I will regret what I did by not giving him candy in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Tonight, this is Halloween! Of course, I needed a costume…and so I dressed up like a pirate.

I met Jack, who runs around with a pumpkin head and says, “TRICK OR TREAT!” as he is the reigning czar of Halloween. He called me his servant and explained how he loves lollipops and candy and rewards people for their efforts.

When I ran into my islanders outside, they asked for candy! And when I visited an islander in their home, they gave me candy. It was a nice balance of giving and taking, and I would occasionally get nice items in return that are spooky. Whenever I got a lollipop, I would be sure to turn around and give it to Jack so he could give me something awesome in return.

Of course, Halloween is not just treats, but also tricks. When I refused to give Jack candy, he cursed me with a zombie face paint job. Oh, Jack also taught me the Haunt reaction and Tybalt taught me the Scare reaction! I also got a DIY recipe for a spooky carriage.

Overall, this was a lot of fun and I spent quite a bit of time tonight in my pirate costume just running around and having fun everywhere in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

November 1

Isabelle dreaming about mushroom pie in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

It is the first of November, and Isabelle explains to me that with November comes mushroom hunting! She immediately starts fantasizing about mushroom pie and all but drooling all over the microphone. It makes me think she’d love my mushroom sauté! She also sent me a DIY recipe for a mushroom wreath.

After stopping by Nook’s Cranny, I found K.K. Slider playing in the plaza. He played Forest Life for me and Gonzo this week while encouraging us to ‘drive slow in the fast lane.’ While I spent quite a while playing last night and running around every which way to see everyone, today felt simply more chill in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I ended up closing my night out by foraging for those mushrooms that Isabelle kept talking about.

Foraging for mushrooms while Wisp is nearby.

I went mushroom foraging again, today. I am not sure what I am going to do with all of these mushrooms I keep finding, but I have a feeling it will be something amazing.

While I was doing that, I also ran into my favorite ghost, Wisp! As usual, he shattered into pieces at the sight of me and I had to catch them all with my net. This proved to be easier than usual, in no small part because of the ramp I built at the top of my island! When I finished recovering everything, he gave me a ring after I asked for something expensive. No quite what I had in mind, but it definitely is expensive.

Gulliver washing up on shore next to the lighthouse.

The lighthouse worked as intended!

Gulliver washed up on my shore today, EXACTLY in front of the lighthouse. I put it there to help guide him and his boat, and well…he found it! It took a while to wake him up, but I managed to do so and then find his five communicator parts. Gulliver told me he battled TWO dozen sea monsters until one got him overboard with a tickle attack. I am not sure I believe his sea tale, but I can’t exactly disprove it.

Also, I had a campsite visitor today. I met Tammy, who immediately asks if everyone here is SUPER friendly and about how she came here on “a lark.” I’m not the biggest fan of her, and I am glad she didn’t automatically move into my island.

I miss Cranston’s wackiness.

November 4

Buying a serene painting in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Today, I harvested more crops, and I sold them for 10,150 Bells! It is nice to have some Bells on hand to spend whenever something nice pops up.

And by nice, I mean that Redd’s boat was visiting Renassia today. I stopped by and I could tell a bunch of the things he was selling were just fake. The one thing I think was not fake was the serene painting he had for sale. I plopped down the money for that, and it is supposed to arrive at my home tomorrow.

Other than that, I didn’t do anything else in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. But it was a fun week, and who knew that Halloween would be such a blast to experience?!
