As I am writing this week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots column, I am playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons and just enjoying the sunrise in the game. It is easy to forget sometimes, because I play so much at night, how magical the sunrises are in this game. The music has a lot more strings to it, and it feels just so pleasant – even if I am sure not all of my islanders are quite awake yet.

The days are definitely starting to get colder in real life, too, and it reminds me that winter will soon be coming for me in this game again. It is crazy to think I will have experienced all four seasons, finally, in this game. I wonder what surprises lie between now and December 31st?

If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots, you can find it here.

Ordering a wave breaker recipe in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I started this week off by discovering a money tree had fully grown, and so I shook that 30,000 Bells loose!

I then stopped by Camofrog’s home, since I haven’t visited him a long time, and we got to talking about movies. He asked me what my favorite movie genre was, and I told him ‘historical fiction.’ I thought of that since I am a sucker for historical movies. He told me he got it, because he also likes a good period piece! We also talked about how if we are a “week’s half over” or “half a week left” sort of person. It was definitely fun to stop by his home and chat him up, as he and I have never really connected that much before.

I then stopped by Nook Shopping and ordered a Wave Breaker recipe to be delivered immediately, and a Lighthouse item to be shipped to my home. I have almost 100,000 Nook Points, and I realized I should probably spend some. Finally, I donated the solemn painting to the Renassia Museum. All in all, a busy day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

There were shooting stars about in the sky tonight. Every time I stepped outside, I tried my best to make a wish on each and every one of them.

Tybalt came over to my home today, and he checked out my Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch console. He talked about how he could design a workout on that, and maybe even a sport like…hybrid snowboarding? I didn’t have the heart to tell him that Ring Fit Adventure is already a thing.

Afterwards, I visited Kicks as he was set up and selling shoes, socks, bags, and accessories on the plaza! I bought some new socks from him. I then ended my day by digging up a new golden spot and planting yet another money tree there.

The lighthouse on my Animal Crossing: New Horizons island.

I started today shopping at Nook’s Cranny and bought a series of hanging festive pennants for…I am not honestly sure. After that, I dug up a fossil, went fishing (and caught another carp, yuck), and then I shot down a balloon! I had to go chasing the balloon all over the place first, as I could not get my slingshot to line up just right for it. Unfortunately, it just had five pieces of clay inside of it. That is not what I was hoping for!

After that, I went around and collected all the different star fragments from the day before that were scatted on the beaches. Finally, I planted the wave crasher on the beach and then took the lighthouse out of my mailbox and set it up onto the sand. I tried to push it out as far as possible into the water. Hopefully Gulliver and Gulivarrr can use it next time they wash up on my shores to guide their shipmates to my island!

Encountering Sable at the Able Sisters workplace.

Tonight, in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I set up a barbecue on the beach next to the surfboard and I put a dish wash station into my outdoor kitchen. I had not planned on making an outdoors restaurant kind of situation on my island, but it definitely is now shaping up to be one. I also laid down some new pathway in that area to fit everything in.

I then stopped by the Able Sisters, and I bought some red horns from them! Finally, I talked to Sable. She and I have come a long way from when we met, and she didn’t want to talk with me at all. She gave me a new patterned fabric to use on my custom furniture. She told me she started to make these on her breaks at the shop, and how excited she is about it. I don’t often use patterned fabrics on my furniture, but I guess I should try sometime to see how it looks.

On my way to K.K. Slider’s concert, I ran into Hazel, who asked me if I wanted to hang out for the next seven hours but then covered it up as if it was a joke. I wish she could just be more honest about wanting to spend time together. I don’t mind!

Finally, it was time to listen to K.K. Slider with Gayle and Tybalt. As always, K.K. gave me the choice of music. I told him that he can pick this time, and he dialed up K.K. Cruisin’ for us to listen to. I really liked it, and I was happy that he gave me a bootleg of his music to take home with me.

Buying turnips from Daisey Mae.

It turned out I already had K.K. Crusin’ in my music catalog, and so I sold it off to Nook’s Cranny.

By the time I played today, it was nearly 11 AM, and so I found Daisy Mae selling her weekly turnips. She offered me her turnips at 92 bells each, and I found myself inclined to buy as many as possible. And by “as many as possible,” I mean 580 of them. They filled up my inventory to the max, and I had to figure out a way to store them so I could still play Animal Crossing: New Horizons and catch fish, bugs, or dig up whatever. I ended up dumping them unceremoniously on the ground outside of Nook’s Cranny.

Afterwards, I went fishing, but I didn’t catch anything new for the museum or exciting to sell for a massive amount of Bells. Just more carp, like always.

Catching a spirit piece of Wisp.

Today, Timmy offered me 62 Bells a turnip. I turned him down, obviously. I did buy a glass holder with candle, however, since I figure it is always a good idea to have a birthday gift on hand for when it randomly becomes someone’s birthday on my island. I then ran around and harvested my crops and sold those off to Timmy instead of the turnips. He handed me 20,300 Bells for my trouble, which is quite a bit of money.

I also finally ran into Wisp again outside! I startled him, and he split off into multiple pieces again. I ended up having to run all over the island to catch each of his chilly spirit pieces so we could reunite him all together again. He offered me a reward, and I asked for something expensive. And I was rewarded with…a 50-inch wall-mounted TV! I don’t know exactly what I am going to do with it, but I will have to figure out something.

Starting to build a new incline.

Today, I played Animal Crossing: New Horizons at sunset. The sky is always a hazy purple and orange and red and yellow color, and I swear the island just becomes more, well, romantic of the islander life at that time of day.

I found a message in a bottle today that gave me a recipe to make bamboo-shoot soup, and then I caught a bunch of insects. Unfortunately, none of them were new for my museum. Hazel asked me if I wanted to hang out at her home, but I gently turned her down as I had other things I needed to do still today.

I headed over to Timmy and Tommy’s next, and they were offering me 116 Bells a turnip! I couldn’t turn them down at that price, and so I sold my entire stash off for 67,280 Bells. I made a decent profit off of it, and I was happy that I didn’t lose any money yet to the turnip market. Also, because I sold off more than 5,000 Bells worth of stuff, I cleared another Get Miles! task in the Nook Miles app on my Nook Phone, and so I pocketed a cool 300 Nook Miles from it.

I decided I was going to put my winnings to use, and it was time to put another incline on my island. I got the materials from Tom Nook and I headed up to the northern most plateau on my island and I installed a ramp on the other side of it. I contributed 50,000 Bells of the total amount needed to complete it, and I will pay off the rest sooner or later. Probably sooner. This was a perfect way to end my week of Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

What is the most expensive, most needed, thing you’ve gotten from Wisp?

What is the best turnip price you’ve gotten from selling turnips?
