The chill is definitely starting to settle in for me, and Halloweeny stuff is popping up everywhere in real life! It is a super exciting time of the year, and it means the holiday season is about to come in full force. Halloween is also truly the only reason Christmas has not taken over everything in stores, I think, at this time of year.

I was therefore thrilled when Isabelle popped up to promise a month of Halloween in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! I have yet to figure out my decorations or how I want to theme my island out for it, but I will definitely have to do SOMETHING.

If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots, then you can check it out here.

The pumpkin table in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

This is the first time I’ve celebrated Halloween in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Isabelle talked about candy for sale to be handed out for Halloween, that there are pumpkin starters for sale, and so much more. It feels a little overwhelming in a way I haven’t seen since Bunny Day.

I visited Nook’s Cranny and I found myself a giant pumpkin table that I have no idea where I would put, and so I didn’t buy it. I dug up a lot of gyroids throughout my island, and I chopped down a money tree that finally sprouted. Finally, I wished upon some shooting stars.

I am really excited to see what this month has in store for me!

Tom Nook telling me my new loan balance.

I am starting to run out of space again in my home. I store a lot of clothing I pick up so I can be sure to have a new outfit each week for this Animal Crossing: New Horizons column. Unfortunately, you only get so much room in your home…

Unless you take a new loan out from Tom Nook.

One million, two-hundred forty-eight thousand Bells. In return, I get a whole second floor to do with whatever I want. As always, there is no due date nor interest…But I still feel a little uneasy being in debt like that.

But I need the space, so I took the deal.

I started playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons at 9:59 PM tonight, and I immediately headed into Nook’s Cranny to see what they had for sale today. I saw the Halloween-themed tree and I was hooked. But I did not have enough Bells to buy it. I sold off a bunch of stuff, but by the time I exited the selling screen…it was 10 PM, the store was closed, Timmy uncourteously kicked me out of the store.

I visited my second story and laid out the moon rug and put my mahjong game machine up there, too. I don’t know what theme I am going to go with, but it will be something fantastic. I think.

Goose receiving a birthday gift from me in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Today is Goose’s birthday! Of course, I had to visit him for it. I gave him a bottled beverage as a gift, and he was very nonchalant about it. However, Goose then said he and I are friends for life, and that made me really happy to see.

Tybalt was there too, and he was just a bit silly in his purple glasses! They danced around the room for awhile and I made sure to join them.

Also I stopped by Nook’s Cranny and I found the perfect item for my garden behind the museum: a scarecrow! I’ve never had one before, but I had the perfect spot for it between the potatoes and the tomatoes. Finally, I found the money rock and I was able to pocket some Bells to spend later this week! And no – I unfortunately did not play long enough today to see K.K. Slider put on a show in the plaza.

Relaxing on the bridge after putting up an arch.

Today, I found another money tree I had planted a while ago, and I dug it up after harvesting the money. I had broken my axe at some point, and so I couldn’t just chop it down for the different wood and then dig up the stump.

When I went to sell it at Nook’s Cranny, I saw a Halloween-themed arch! I bought it and threw it up on the other side of the bridge leading away from the north-western shoreline to the untamed wilderness that is the upper part of Renassia. I really wish they had arches and things like that that I could decorate my island with more.

Enjoying coffee with Gonzo at Brewster's in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

So much, and yet so little, happened today in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Isabelle told me the Fall Fishing Tourney is being held on Saturday! I’ve missed so many different tournaments this year, and I would like to not also miss this one. Also, Gayle talked with me about leaving the island today. I asked her to not leave, and apparently she was secretly hoping I would try to talk her out of it. I totally get that feeling of wanting to feel ‘wanted,’ and I don’t blame her for that.

I then spent the rest of my day in the museum. I said hello to Blathers, and I handed him the Sinking Painting. Surprise, it was real! I want to go upstairs to see how my newest wing is coming along, yet I am also a little afraid to see just how empty the art gallery is.

I capped off my day by stopping by Brewster’s Cafe. Gonzo was there, and he told me how it feels like time just stops when he is enjoying a cup of coffee at the cafe. I mentally concurred with him on that. Gonzo also told me that Brewster imports a fancy blend just for Gonzo that comes from a place called “Deek Aff,” and it is so he can drink it right before bed without then being up all night. I personally love that all my islanders have little relationships with each other in such unique ways that don’t revolve around me.

Brewster poured me a cup of coffee as well, and I found it had the right amount of acidity and full-bodied flavor, and that I wouldn’t add a single thing to it.

Camofrog and Gayle enjoying coffee together.

I spent way too much time trying to figure out if the Las Meninas painting, by Diego Velázquez, being sold by Redd today was real or not. I have never actually seen the original one in Madrid, and while I am familiar with the piece…I am not THAT familiar. I ended up buying it after a long while, and I am hoping it turns out to be real.

I also ran into Camofrog and Gayle enjoying takeaway cups of coffee on a bench in the plaza. I wish I had had a cup of coffee from Brewster’s Cafe to enjoy alongside them! It was super late at night, and so I can’t help but wonder if this coffee is also imported from “Deek Aff”…

Finally, I ordered a song from the Nook Shopping kiosk titled Mountain Song. I have no idea if I already have it or not, and I wish that there was a way for me to tell if I do have it or not.

How do you like your coffee?

Do you import it from “Deek Aff”, like Brewster, to be able to sleep at night?
