This week in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I make the time to play both in the absolute earliest part of the day (as dawn is breaking), and moments before midnight strikes, and everywhere in-between.

It is crazy how there is something to do in this game no matter what time of the day you pick up your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 and play. Even though my islanders aren’t always awake, Nintendo smartly picked enough ‘anytime’ activities that you’re never truly bored if you don’t want to be – and I think that is truly something that makes this game work on a level that few other slice-of-life genre games can.

I definitely, if nothing else, need to go on more dawn cruises with Kap’n to various islands…

If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots, you can check it out here.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Traveling with Kap'n.

It turns out that when you play at around 5:30 AM, you get to experience dawn in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The sky is a mishmash of greens and blues and yellows while all the islanders are still asleep.

So instead, I loaded up with Kap’n, and headed off to a small, uncharted island to go catch fish for a half-hour or so. It was genuinely nice, even though I didn’t end up with anything that I hadn’t caught already in the past. All of the cherry-blossom trees were also an incredibly nice touch!

Returning a communicator to Gullivarrr in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Gullivarr washed up again, just behind my home this evening. After complaining about raisins in cookies and about how he was feared from Crocodile Isle to Keelhaul Key, he explained to me (once again!) that he washed up on shore and he needed his communicator to leave.

I ultimately had to go out into the cold, dark waters around my island to locate it for him. And I did in fact do so before returning it so he could head back to his ship! (Eventually…)

Submitting the great purple emperor butterfly to Blathers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Lots and lots and lots was done today.

First, I continued to lay a pathway down in the upper half of my island. I dug up a lot more flowers and laid down the tera cotta pathway stones so that I could run to my ramps without having to worry about the flowers.

I also caught the great purple emperor butterfly while doing so! I turned it over to Blathers at the museum, who explained to me that this butterfly lives in treetops, has two horns on its head when it is a caterpillar, and likes to dine on dead animals and feces. That’s…a lot. But the important thing is that one more insect is included in my Animal Crossing: New Horizons museum!

Next, Redd showed up today, and I bought a Twinkling Painting from him! He gave me all sorts of discounts, and while I think it is real, I won’t be sure until I submit it. The last thing I want is another fake art situation.

And finally, I deposited 50,000 Bells into my savings account. This means that I will have 193,161 Bells in savings to use when something amazing comes along to buy.

Overall, it was truly a successful day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for me!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Missing the Bug-Off.

I spent my entire day playing Pokémon GO and hunting down Dynamax Latios and Dynamax Latias, that by the time I got around to playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons tonight, I had already missed the Bug-Off.

I hate missing events, but at least I had a good excuse this time! Other than that, I made a little Bells hitting on rocks.

(And yes, I did catch both Dynamax Latios and Dynamax Latias…but none of them were shiny.)

K.K. Slider playing one last song for the night.

It turns out that if you try to get a song out of K.K. Slider riiiiiiiight before midnight, he will tell you he can squeeze in one last number for you. While there are often islanders also listening to K.K. Slider play, tonight he played K.K. Aria just for me.

After he finished, I asked him if he would play just one more for me…but he told me that he was all jammed out for the night.

It was still a great way to end my Sunday, though.

Isabelle announcing fireworks coming to the island.

So, it looks like I get fireworks in August on Sunday nights at 7 PM! I am excited about this…I hope they are somewhat as amazing as the ones that were shot off on January 1st for New Year’s Day.

Other than that new announcement, I didn’t do a lot. I dug up a fossil, which turned out to be amber that I then sold to Nook’s Cranny. I also found myself a money rock. I also wondered around my island for a while and fished some, but I didn’t catch anything exciting.

Isabelle chatting me up at Brewster's Cafe.

There are times when Brewster’s Cafe really does feel like the secret meeting place for the island, as it seems like that whenever I stop in, I wind up chatting with someone who lives or works on Renassia.

Today was no exception. As I was drinking my piping hot coffee, Isabelle stopped by to get herself a cup o’ joe, too! She talked to me, and it felt a bit like a warm hug instead of just the slightly formal speech she gives whenever I approach her at Resident Services.

I stopped by there afterwards…and I discovered that my Nook Shopping streak had snapped! I am back to Day 1 of building up those bonus miles. Granted, I do have over 81,000 Nook Miles, but STILL. I need more if I am ever going to do…something…with them all.

And so, that wraps up another week in Animal Crossing:New Horizons!
