Even though I was traveling this week, I still made time to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons each day. I don’t update my time zones, since I don’t want to mess with how time functions on my island and risk the wrath of Resetti (even though he doesn’t do that in this game…).
It did have the added fun bonus of making sure that I played during daylight hours again, which was super nice! It was also appropriate, since the longest day of the year, July 20, happened this week- and I thought that it only made sense to play during the sunlight hours because of it.
If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots, then you can check it out here.

Today, Tom Nook informed me that I can get new replacement doors as part of my home upgrade package. This is quite the surprise, as I had no idea that that was possible. It is something that I’m definitely going to consider, as I would love something that would better fulfill my beach lifestyle. I also dumped out my inventory onto the beach today, so I can try to sort out the items in my mail and with my current home inventory at some point in the near future to figure out how to free up as much space as possible before I fill it up again.
I also found a lost item by the eastern waterfall! It turned out that it belonged to Hazel, and she was thrilled to get it back. She gave me a sleeved apron instead…which is an interesting choice of a gift, considering that I haven’t really actually cooked anything yet.
Other than that, I dug up a scatteroid by the riverfront and I shot down a balloon with a DIY water flooring attached to it from the sky that I might end up making it and putting it into the new room of my home. Finally, I dug up a bunch of the flowers from around one of my bridges and laid down new pathways to help curb the flower menace.
I feel like I accomplished quite a bit today!
July 17

I didn’t have a ton of time to play beyond checking out the new inventory at Nook’s Cranny and to keep my streak alive with Nook Shopping.
I found the daily money rock outside of my museum today, and I was able to pocket quite a bit of money from that.
Otherwise, I had Blathers identify my fossils. It turns out that I had unknowingly found the left megalo side, and it was the last thing I needed to finish the Megaloceros. This was a relative of deer that lived after the dinosaurs during the ice age. I didn’t know that there were fossils from that time period present in Renassia, and I am happy that I finished yet another (small) part of my museum!
July 18

Today, I just fished and caught bugs to my heart’s content! Unfortunately, I got nothing new for my Animal Crossing: New Horizons museum.
I caught a bunch of different types of bass, and I caught more butterflies. I did set up a light outside of my boxing ring, and I might end up ordering more of them to provide better nighttime lighting for my elevated gym spot once I see how it looks at night for illumination purposes.
Finally, I threw 90,000 Bells at my current home loan, and so I think I am well on my way to finishing off my current home loan.
July 19

Today, I didn’t do a whole lot in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
I chopped down two money trees after shaking the money bags off of them, sold off a bunch of dug up and identified fossils and bugs…and then put 100,000 Bells into my bank account to try to draw interest off of. I want to have money set aside for when I see that piece of furniture I absolutely have to have, but I don’t because I keep paying off bridges and ramps and my mortgage, or whatever. I know that the interest rate is .05%, which is insanely bad, and something that I wish was higher.
Money trees are seriously a better investment of my funds than the Nook Shopping bank account.
July 20

Today, all I did was pick crops, sell said crops, and go catch insects. It was the longest day of the year today, and so it felt just appropriate to do!
I know I need to work on developing my island more, but I just didn’t really want to do anything but live in the moment and just enjoy these warm summer days today. If anything, I remember how snow just absolutely covered everything in Animal Crossing: New Horizons when I started this column back on January 1st.
I also stopped by Nook’s Cranny and tried to talk Gayle into buying a bed that she was really interested in, but I couldn’t for some reason Maybe she didn’t have enough Bells?
July 21

Today, Isabelle announced a Bug-Off competition on Saturday! I am absolutely going to attend it this coming weekend, and I am making sure that I dedicate specific real-life time to it.
Otherwise, today I stopped by Kicks’ pop-up store and bought myself a new Knapsack. I dug up a bunch of fossils that I had Blathers identify…which I turned around and immediately sold off, since the museum already had them all. I then added another 40,000 Bells to my savings account. I think I want to keep roughly a balance on 200,000 Bells on hand so that I can splurge and buy some random, amazing item at Nook’s Cranny when it comes in next.
July 22

I bought a picture frame from Nook’s Cranny today that had a piece of art in it, but I guess the art isn’t the main point of it. It was kind of weird as it reminded me a lot of the Flowery Painting that I had bought from Redd’s back in March.
Other than that, I am just going to share Celphalobot’s super weird letter about a dream to me. Bibimbap is a Korean dish with white rice topped with vegetables, gochujang, and sometimes with egg and meat toppings. It is absolutely delicious but dreaming about me devouring it like I’m trying to win an eating content is kind of weird.
I know I write a real-life video game cooking column as well, but I haven’t made anything quite like that yet…But that might have to change!
Have you made Bibimbap? What do you like to include in it?
How did you spend the longest day of the year in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
