Even though my week in real life was hectic, I found myself slowing down and putting some serious time into Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
It is easy to lose yourself in planning pathways on your island or reworking a room them a bit to fit all the pieces you want to put in there together. This week, I spent way too much time trying to figure out how to put an incline into a rocky beach and trying to dig up flowers everywhere I go so I can lay a pathway down and prevent the flowers from coming back.
That, and lots, lots more are in store for you with this week’s column!

Today, I went through a lot of my mail to free up as much space as possible… And I discovered a letter from Jenae! If you don’t know who she is, then you’re missing out since she is one of my fellow writers here at oprainfall. She even included a little gift for me with her letter. You should definitely check out her writing!
I also decided that it was time to build a pathway down to Redd’s beach at the back of the island. To that end, I purchased a cliff construction permit. I don’t know quite how I am going to go about it yet, and so I’ll definitely have to do some exploratory work this week to get it all started.
Hazel also stopped by my home and I said hello to her, as well!

Instead of building a ramp area for Redd’s beach, I instead dug up a bunch of flowers and sold them off to put in a stone pathway from another incline to where my current project is being built. The flowers are really problematic, as I can’t build over them and I have to dig them up in order to clear the land for other use. And they are all over the place at the northern part of my island- and the southern part, if I’m being honest.
I then tried to start up a second incline project while my first one was pending, and I was told by Tom Nook that I can only do one construction project at a time. I ended up paying off my prior project, and I was told that I have to wait until the incline is fully built before I can start another project. All of this red tape in Animal Crossing: New Horizons…

With the prior incline paid off and built, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons community held a ceremony for it! With that over, I finally picked up an incline construction kit for a blue-plank ramp and turned my full attention to Redd’s beach.
I quickly discovered that the biggest issue I have is that you can’t just drop an incline down to the beach, but that you have to clear out a lot of land around it in order to install that incline. I ended up digging up flowers, clearing off cliff sections, digging up MORE flowers and MORE cliff sections, and creating a really decently sized set back from the beach for me to install that blue-plank ramp into. I also had to dig into a second tier of cliffs so I could have a place for the top part of the blue-plank ramp to exist, too!
This all took a surprisingly long time to accomplish – and in no small part because I kept having to sell off flowers whenever my inventory is full. I am also now carrying around a pine tree in my inventory that I had to dig up and I will need to replant (hopefully close to the base of the blue-plank ramp) once this is all said and done.

It is Saturday, and that means K.K. Slider. This week, Tybalt, Hazel, and I listened to him play K.K. Disco. It was an alright tune, but unfortunately it wasn’t anything truly special.
And then Hazel asked me if I wanted to hang out for the next seven hours before playing it off as a joke. I’m…not sure about all that.

There were lots and lots of shooting stars tonight. This really surprised me, because I wasn’t expecting it. I kept stopping everything I was doing to try to wish upon as many of them as I could.
I also had a visitor to my campsite, which was pretty awesome. It turned out to be Rio! He is very energetic and loves talking…a lot. They wanted to move to my island, but it turns out there is no space. They then said that Resident Services suggested that we dump Gonzo in order for him to move in.
I wasn’t about that. Gonzo is a little grumpy, but that’s okay.
Other than that, I hit a money rock and spent 20,000 bells on my blue-plank ramp that I am trying to build.

I have a flower problem on my island. It is incredibly hard to get rid of them, they keep spreading everywhere, and they have really hampered my Animal Crossing: New Horizons island’s development.
So why is Gayle watering them? She is LITERALLY the problem here.
I collected a bunch of star fragments from the beaches, and I ended up paying off half of the blue-plank ramp today otherwise.
But. GAYLE. WHYYYYYYY.

Nook’s Cranny FINALLY is selling a neutral corner!
I have the red corner, the blue corner, and now a neutral corner! Once I order one more neutral corner, I will have a complete boxing ring in my gym room of my home. I am so excited about this.
Aside from that, I hit the money rock and then went to visit Redd who was in town on his little boat. I used my ladder to get down to his boat for hopefully one of the last times until my ramp is fully built. Once there, I bought the Academic Painting and a stepladder.
I haven’t quite figured out where the stepladder will go yet on my island, but it will have a place.
And so, ends another week in Animal Crossing: New Horizons…
