Feature Image. Hazel explaining confidence in the rain on a red zen bridge.

It rained SO much in Animal Crossing: New Horizons this week. I thought the saying was “April showers bring May flowers,” not “May showers bring more May showers!”

This week was definitely more of a hodgepodge of gameplay, as I just took things day-by-day and I enjoyed the rain as much as I possibly could. I wish there were special rain-day only events in the game, but I am glad I ended up running around in a rain-friendly outfit all week because of it.

I am definitely going to miss these cozy rainy days though when we get into the summer heat in just a month or so…

If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots, you can check it out here!

Animal Crossing | Brewster's Cafe and room temperature coffee.

Another rainy day on my island! I picked a full rain outfit for it. I spent the day honestly just chilling outside, listening to the rainy day music, and enjoying myself.

DID stop by Brewster’s Cafe, though. I kept letting the coffee cool down until it was perfectly at room temperature. He…really doesn’t like that.

Animal Crossing | Meeting Kyle

I played quite late tonight. Late enough that I was falling asleep as I was playing. And you know what I found?

Kyle, visiting my tent! He was quite the character. He apparently is a performer who likes to laugh and fake-cry or invent…new things. He also is seriously under the mistaken impression that we have a local rugby scene. (We don’t.) He is very high energy, and I am not quite sure how he would make it on my island.

Thankfully, I lost a game of red/black card, and he said that he wouldn’t move here.

Talking with Celeste about the constellations.

It’s always a good night when I stumble across Celeste. I was wondering around my island, heading to Redd’s boat to ultimately buy nothing, when I saw her on a cliff top. She gave me a recipe for a Taurus bathtub.

I showed her my Aries fragment, and she then told me a story about Phrixus and Helle and the creation of the sheep constellation, Aries, in the sky. I then showed her a Capricornus fragment, and she told me the story about how Zeus hung a goatfish in the sky because it amused him.

Small, unexpected, stories like that really shape Animal Crossing: New Horizons in such unexpected ways.

Celebrating Gayle's birthday!

Today was Gayle’s Birthday! After Isabelle told me in the daily announcements, I knew that I had to stop by to wish her a happy birthday and give her a gift.

Tybalt was also there, complete in shades, to help celebrate. I ended up giving Gayle a pedal board as a gift, and she seemed to like that quite a bit. I hung around and listened to K.K. Birthday for awhile before leaving.

After shaking down a money tree, I stopped by the plaza and heard K.K. Slider play To the Edge. No, not the song from FINAL FANTASY XIV Online: Shadowbringers, but K.K.’s own creation! At that point, I felt like my Saturday in Animal Crossing: New Horizons was complete, and I ended up signing off for the night.

Fish wing museum stamp rally card.

Isabelle announced a stamp rally for the museum was starting today! I had done one previously at the Toyosu Market in Tokyo, and I loved it. I had also not been around in the museum for months since I first opened up the art wing.

Today, I wandered around the fish section, and I ended up only doing one stamp there. I got lost in checking out all the fish I caught and looking at the information. It turns out this is a great way to get me to visit the museum!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Double Gloucester cheese wheel is up for purchase.

Cheese rolling apparently exists in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Everyday, I check out the Nook Shopping Kiosk in the Town Hall, and today “Double Gloucester cheese” popped up for the event “cheese rolling.” In real life, people roll down a 200 foot hill outside Gloucester, England and chase after a giant Double Gloucester cheese wheel. It’s a very real thing, it is absolutely fun to watch on YouTube, and I never thought it would make it into Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

Aside from that, there was a visitor to my campground, Tiffany. I talked with her for awhile…and I just didn’t care for her or her personality. That seems to be quite common among visitors for me, no matter how much they claim to love Renassia.

Finally, it was raining again today! I encountered Hazel on a red zen bridge today, and she taught me the Confident Reaction! It is an odd thing to be learning while out in the rain together, but here we are. It’s turned out to be quite a rainy week here in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Gulliver is thankful for the communicator parts I found.

Gulliver washed up on my shores again today! I ran around and quickly found his communicator parts. More surprisingly, it took only talking to him twice to get him to wake up- sometimes it takes up to five times for him to finally be responsive.

He promised to mail me something, and I am hoping it will be a new statue for me to ship out to my statue area on the northwestern part of my island.

Other than that, I finally finished the stamp rally for the fish section of my museum! I got a fish plaque as a reward gift. I am going to definitely finish the other sections quickly this coming column week and get those rewards as well. It runs until the end of May, so I definitely have plenty of time to do it all in.

I also think that I want to start changing some of the cliffs on my island…especially where Redd’s boat is. It’s really annoying that I have to use a ladder to get down there each time…

How was your week?

Was it filled with rain, like mine was in-game?
