Brewster Serving Coffee Feature Image

By the time this week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots goes for everyone to read, we will know all about the Nintendo Switch 2, what games are coming at release, and HOPEFULLY a pre-order date. I haven’t felt this excited and wonderous about a new console since…well…the debut of this current generation!

My big concern? If my Animal Crossing: New Horizons island will carry over to the Nintendo Switch 2. I fully plan on writing this column each day still, and hopefully I will be able to enjoy it all on one platform instead of hauling two consoles everywhere with me.

It’s really exciting to see a new gaming world coming about, and I cannot wait to see what Nintendo has in store for us all. Console launches are the big time for new IPs for launch, and I really hope we get something new for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch day (and Amiibo to go with it!).

If you missed last week’s Tom Nook’s Snapshots, you can check it out here.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Kapp'n singing.

Today, I decided to continue the hunt for Brewster!

I loaded up with Kapp’n for the first time EVER and I was not expecting a full song from him. I really enjoyed it, even though it definitely was longer than I expected. Ultimately, Kapp’n took me to a deserted island. I started to wonder around, and I honestly began to think that this reminded me a lot of the first one I visited with Dodo Airlines. As I started to catch fish and bugs and dig up plants…

My Nintendo Switch battery gave me a critical alert. It turns out that I forgot to charge it!

I had to save and quit so I wouldn’t get a visit from Resetti (he is around this time in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, right?).

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Finding Brewster.

With my Nintendo Switch fully charged, today I continued the now seemingly-never-ending trip for Brewster.

As I explored another island that Kapp’n took me to after another song, I caught a cherry salmon, a man-faced stink bug, and I dug up more little plants to transplant to my own island.

I also finally found Brewster! It turns out he was on the far side of the island from where I was the day before. He looked slightly ridiculous in his outfit while he was out hunting gyroids, but he gave me one and he agreed to open a cafe in Renassia!

After I had my visit completely with Brewster and the island, I logged off the game for the night.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Ruby visits.

Today, the museum is closed to install the cafe! They threw up a giant Nook Inc. tarp over the entire museum, and I can’t wait for it to reopen tomorrow so I can visit.

Also, I have a new visitor at the campsite! I was surprised to see that anyone would still come even though my island is now officially ‘full’. Ruby seems nice, but the carrying around a lollipop and wearing a shirt with your face on it is a little…weird. I am glad I don’t have to accept Ruby into my community. Such a weird visitor.

I actually didn’t play much more than this tonight. I was so tired, that it was a miracle I played at all.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Cafe opens.

Saturday in Animal Crossing: New Horizons means another K.K. Slider performance! This time, K.K. performed K.K. Oasis for me and Tybalt.

Aside from that, there was a celebration ceremony for the coffee shop opening. Tom Nook reminded everyone about how the island started with just a single tent…but to look at where we are now. Brewster invited us all over to have a cup of coffee, too. Privately, at the cafe, Brewster thanked me personally for passing on a message from Blathers to him on that remote island and I felt such a sense of true joy over helping make my island the best it could be.

And then, of course, I had a cup of coffee, drank hot and fresh.

Coffee with Gonzo.

Today, I donated the rest of the money needed to reach the donation goal for the incline! I am already planning out where to put my next bridge. I really think Renassia’s biggest issue is that there are lots of cliffs and waterways that I need to build around, and that unfortunately takes a lot of Bells to pull off. I hate using my ladder and pole to get around my island, and it would make developing the northern half of the island a lot easier.

More importantly, I got to enjoy a cup of coffee with Gonzo at Brewster’s cafe. It was nice just hanging out, relaxing with a cup of coffee (that was just a bit bitter!) in hand. It’s those small, unexpected slice-of-life moments that make Animal Crossing: New Horizons the fun game it is.

Cephalobot's birthday party with Goose.

Today, Label asked me to wear a sporty outfit…and it turns out I was already wearing one. It turns out that she has her own brand, and so I got a pair of shorts from her!

I also went to a celebration ceremony (two in a week?) for the new incline. It was nice to see everyone there celebrating. After that, I dug up, identified, and sold off a bunch of fossils and bugs/fish that I caught. I haven’t caught anything new yet for my museum, unfortunately, but I was able to down yet another cup of coffee!

More importantly, I was not expecting trees to turn into cherry blossom trees randomly. Are the trees always cherry blossom trees on my island?

Finally…It was Cephalobot’s birthday! I picked up a throwback wrestling figure to give him, and it was a good thing that I did. When I swung by his home to wish him ‘Happy Birthday’, Goose was already there and had given Cephalobot a gift. Thankfully, I had something in hand to give him too! I then hung out on the couch while K.K. Birthday played in the background.

And thus, another week has ended. I wonder how long the cherry blossoms will last for…

What is your favorite Nintendo Switch 2 announcement?

Are you hoping your island will carry over to the new console generation, too?
