While we here at Operation Rainfall love covering the latest in gaming news and sharing our reviews of titles new and classic, we also just enjoy playing games in our downtime. So with that, sit back, relax, and check out what the oprainfall gaming crew have been up to this week!
I spent most of this week finishing up Monster Menu: The Scavenger’s Cookbook. I’ll have a full review later this week, but I will say while I had fun it is a mixed bag. I think playing this one on the normal difficulty would be very frustrating due to the RNG and anything higher than that, you’d have to be a masochist. I do think this game has a very interesting setup and concept, so I will have lots to discuss about it later.
Later in the week I picked up Street Fighter 6. I had made a bet that Capcom would censor Cammy’s classic outfit and if they didn’t I’d buy the game, well looks like I was wrong this time. That being said, I’m glad I picked this up. While this is very different from the last one I played, which was Street Fighter 4, I’m having a lot of fun relearning old characters I’ve loved since the 90’s and some new ones as well. World Tour mode is a bit strange, but it is interesting to see them do a Street Fighter story this way. My only big gripes with the game so far are that there are too many different currencies needed to unlock things and they try to force the modern controls down your neck. This should be set to classic by default and changed for folks that want it, not the other way around. That being said, overall my experience so far playing on and offline has been great, and if this continues I will likely give this a very positive review in the near future. -Steve
I didn’t get a chance to add to the weekly article last week cause I was a bit busy on Memorial Day and I don’t think I had made too much progress in Tears of the Kingdom. Since then however, I’ve made quite a bit more progress. I’ve now finally completed some temples, both the Wind and Water Temples. I’ve managed to get myself the Master Sword, which was a bit difficult doing before certain quests and things you’re supposed to do to get it, but once I had a chance at it I was determined. Plus, I’ve explored a bit more, dealt with some pirates, activated some more towers, only one left, and that’s about it. I still have two temples to deal with I believe and I haven’t really done that much underground stuff cause I haven’t been well stocked on brightbloom seeds, not to mention the underground area still creeps me out a bit. But I’m definitely doing better than I was and I have more of a chance of getting through the game, slowly but surely. – Jenae
