As part of its fifth year anniversary celebration, critically-acclaimed action RPG NieR: Automata is receiving the anime treatment, announced during a fifth-anniversary livestream. Other anniversary goodies included brand new 2B and 9S artwork, a crossover event with Babylon’s Fall, and a 50 percent off sale for the game. The anime will be handled by Aniplex with Square Enix producing. While more details on the actual animation project – how many episodes, when it will air, who is directing – are scarce, more information will hopefully be forthcoming in the future.

NieR: Automata, released in 2017, was developed by PlatinumGames and directed by Yoko Taro. oprainfall rated the game 5/5, and awarded it our Best Multiplatform Game of 2017 and Best Gameplay of 2017.
