Paris-based developer, The Arcade Crew, has just released a gameplay overview video showing off The Last Spell. The tactical defense RPG game is preparing to debut on Steam Early Access on June 3rd for $19.99, which is not that far off. The press release says it will also have a limited time $10 off discount. The Last Spell aims to create a compelling tactical experience with roguelite elements.

Take on turn-based battles while managing your party and securing battle advantages when you see them. You will find things like randomized stashes of gear, while facing procedurally generated flanks of enemies trying to ruin your day. The press release describes the onslaughts as “brutal but fair”. So needless to say, it will not be easy for you to ensure that humanity’s last Haven survives the relentless siege.

The overview video above shows humanity’s plight, facing the very real threat of extinction. The best strategists humanity can muster up are all that stands against the hordes of monsters besieging the final Haven of civilization. They must buy time for the Haven’s mages to neutralize the dark magic spawning the swarms of enemies. Cunning strategy is crucial, but so too is making sure the city’s defenses are carefully fortified. However, even in defeat, all is not lost. The lessons learned from humanity’s destruction can arm you with new knowledge or strategies to utilize in subsequent battles.

The game will surely test your wit and endurance, as well as your ingenuity. Are you relentless enough to stand against the deadly hordes that have come to extinguish the last remnants of humanity? Will you let them snuff it out like a defenseless candle flame, or teach your foes a painful lesson? Good luck out there. You’ll need it when The Last Spell debuts on Steam very early next month.
