FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE

Square Enix is excited that their popular action RPG, Final Fantasy VII Remake took home two major awards from The Game Awards. The annual celebration of gaming bestowed upon it the “Best RPG” award, and its soundtrack earned it the “Best Score and Music” award. Beyond this, the game was also a finalist in four other categories, where it was ultimately defeated:

  • Best Art Direction
  • Best Narrative
  • Best Game Direction
  • Game of the Year

Overall, Final Fantasy VII Remake has gotten much praise around the world, and became the best selling digital release on the PlayStation in all of Square Enix history. It saw over five million digital sales and shipments in the time since it launched, according to their press release.

This is not the end of the news from yesterday relating to this game, though. Relatively early on in the show, a trailer revealed that a new challenger approaches to take on Cloud in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Here is the reveal trailer:

The villainous Sephiroth is joining the Smash roster this month! Furthermore, Nintendo has announced that Smash Bros. fans can tune in on December 17th at 2:00pm PT/5:00pm ET for Masahiro Sakurai’s presentation on the latest fighter to step into the fray. Sephiroth is only the second character from the Final Fantasy series to make it into the roster. A specific release date has not been revealed yet, but we will likely get it next week on the 17th from Mr. Sakurai himself! That’s just a handful of days away.

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
