Kingdom of Night, an 80’s inspired action RPG from Black Seven Studios and DANGEN Entertainment, had a successful Kickstarter campaign where they raised $55,051 USD with 1,272 backers. Now they want to give those who may have missed out on the campaign a chance to join in while also raising more capital for their game with a “Slacker Backer” campaign.

Kingdom of Night takes place over the course of a single night in Watford, Arizona. A satanic cult has unwittingly summoned the demon Baphomet, reigning chaos upon the small town. When John’s neighbor Ophelia is kidnapped by the demons he sets out to save her and stop Baphomet and it’s horde of hellspawn. Very much inspired by 80s films and aesthetics, Kingdom of Night is an isometric action RPG with a focus on story with themes of coming of age, cosmic horror, and love. In an effort to really capture that 80’s feel, or rather, sound, the developers have enlisted the help of veteran synthwave composer, Vince DiCola. DiCola previously worked on the soundtrack of such 80’s films as ROCKY IV and The Transformers: The Movie. Kingdom of Night also features local co-op in addition to single player. You can checkout the game’s new trailer below:

Hosted over at Fangamer, the new campaign looks to very much be an extension of the Kickstarter with many of the same reward tiers. In addition to the game the campaign also includes a sourcebook for converting the games world into a tabletop RPG, a modification of the d20 system pioneered by the granddaddy of tabletop RPGs, Dungeons & Dragons. Getting the game starts at a $25 pledge for a digital copy of the platform of your choice. If you’re interested in a physical copy of the game, that starts at $75 and includes digital extras like the soundtrack, artbook and the previously mentioned sourcebook for the tabletop game. Naturally there other tiers you can checkout on the campaign page.

If you think Kingdom of Night is something that might interest you, maybe head on over to that Fangamer campaign page, give it a look over and maybe consider backing. Kingdom of Night plans on launching sometime in 2021 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
