While it’s true I’m not generally a huge fan of relaxing simulation style games, there’s just something charming about Garden Story. Picogram’s social sim / adventure RPG was first brought to my attention by the good folks at Rose City Games, who are helping to publish it. But as of today, I can reveal another exciting development. A group called Kowloon Nights, a video game fund dedicated to helping promising games reach their potential, are now helping with Garden Story as well. What this means is that production will take a bit longer, but it should be worth the wait!

Garden Story | Dowsing

One change from this partnership is that now Garden Story will be a bigger adventure. You’ll meet more friends, face more foes, and unlock more of the history of the game. While this does mean that the adventure won’t be out as originally intended this Spring, it now will come out sometime in 2021. While I’m sure that’s a bummer for fans, I personally don’t mind waiting longer for a better game.

Garden Story Release Update + June Refresh

We’re so excited to announce a new partnership with Kowloon Nights, who are helping us bring Garden Story to fruition! If you haven’t heard, Kowloon Nights is a video game fund that focuses on backing independent developers. They’ve helped fund other cozy and wholesome titles you may be familiar with, and you can check them out here. Their support will allow us to expand the world, making the game bigger, better, and more delightful!

Garden Story | Bookworm

You can expect more fruity friends who’ll provide additional favors and requests to hone your skills and foster the Grove’s community; a wider variety of Rot types and bosses to combat; additional natural resources to collect and further unlock the history of The Grove… and a few more surprises to make Garden Story the very best it can be. Because the team is working hard to expand Garden Story, we will also need more time than originally planned. The game will no longer be launching in Spring 2020 – we are now planning on releasing in 2021, and will let you know more details as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience, and promise it will be worth it!
