Capcom unveiled Resident Evil: Village in Sony’s PS5 The Future of Gaming event. The eighth entry in the Resident Evil series, it is set to come to Steam, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 sometime next year. The title is still in the process of being developed using Capcom’s proprietary engine, known as RE Engine. This engine was also used to develop Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Devil May Cry 5. Running on next generation consoles, Resident Evil: Village, aims to take the series to new levels of realism and terror, heightening the tension and fear as the player battles to survive.

Here is the new cinematic announcement trailer:

Resident Evil: Village takes place several years after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Ethan and his wife, Mia, find themselves living a peaceful existence in a new place. Their past nightmares are now locked away in history where they belong, or so they thought. They’d barely begun building their new shared life, when the crap hit the fan again! The well-known hero, Chris Redfield, from some of the previous games in the series, reconnects with them. At this point, their new life is thrown into chaos. Ethan can’t believe reality, as he finds himself trapped in a new nightmare!

Having no choice, Ethan must set out on a quest to find out what the heck is going on. Along the way he will learn about the mysterious new horrors that have destroyed the peace, as they now infest his village. While devastated by the destruction of his new life, there is no time to mourn. He will have to fight for his life, as these vicious and terrible new enemies lurk all over in the snowy environment of the village.

Lastly, here are a handful of screenshots from the game’s announcement:

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
