War Child UK RE-PLAY

The charity War Child UK has launched the RE-PLAY campaign for April to raise money for children who live in war zones. The campaign features a number of titles on sale on Steam such as Psychonaunts, Dead Cells, Bubbles the Cat, Broken Age, and Costume Quest among others. You can take a look at the press release for the campaign below.

London, United Kingdom – 9 April 2020 – War Child UK returns today with RE-PLAY, the unique fundraising campaign that encourages everyone to recall the nostalgia of childhood by jumping into classic, retro-inspired video games, while supporting some of the world’s most vulnerable children living in war zones, many of whom are now dealing with the devastating effects of COVID-19.

During the coronavirus pandemic, with people across the globe advised to stay at home, there’s never been a better time to embrace gaming for good and connect with other gamers, all while raising money for and awareness of an important cause.

Launching today – and running until 16 April – is the RE-PLAY Steam sale, that features a number of critically-acclaimed titles from illustrious studios such as Double Fine, Chucklefish, Motion Twin and Raw Fury. All featured titles will be available at a discount with a percentage of proceeds being donated to War Child. A full list of games participating in the sale can be found below.

Throughout the campaign, War Child will be hosting daily fundraising livestreams, in which it will be diving headfirst into the games available in the Steam sale. This will take place at 2PM-4PM BST until 15 April. Tune in daily to https://bit.ly/REPLAYonTwitch to get involved.

Players and streamers across the globe are encouraged to get in on the fundraising action by launching their very own RE-PLAY livestream and engaging in some retro-inspired goodness. A selection of prizes will be awarded to the streams that raise the most funds. Head over to the RE-PLAY 2020 Tiltify page at https://bit.ly/StreamForREPLAY for more details and get streaming.

Funds raised during the campaign will aid War Child’s Coronavirus Crisis Appeal, which will go towards distributing life-saving information and support packs, looking after children who may be separated from their loved ones when they become unwell and providing PPE to keep staff and families safe.

War Child UK supports children whose lives have been torn apart by war. As the coronavirus sweeps across the world it risks causing devastation in communities already suffering from the shocks of war.  Poor healthcare and cramped conditions in refugee camps will make limiting the spread of disease impossible and for families with no financial safety net lockdowns will mean running out of food almost instantly.  War Child’s teams are on the ground making sure families get the vital protection they need to make it through this terrible time.

The specialist gaming team has innovative fundraising partnerships across the PC, console and mobile industries, as well as through streaming and support from the gaming community and to date has brought in a massive $4.3 million through gaming. RE-PLAY 2020 aims to increase the amount of engagement and funds generated via retro-inspired gaming.
