inkle Ltd. has unveiled their next game, Pendragon. This comes after their 2019 IGF win with Heaven’s Vault. Currently, Pendragon is set to arrive on PC (via Steam) sometime this summer. It is the next step in the evolution of their projects in the realm of strategic narrative games. You may also know them as the creators of 80 Days. Here is the teaser trailer:

The year is AD 673, and Camelot has fallen! In jealousy, Sir Mordred has used hatred and lies to break the fellowship of the Round Table. Now it’s time to rally the Knights of the Round Table before King Arthur’s fate is sealed. Can you make it in time? The only certainty is that every turn will be important. You can choose one of four different characters to lead your journey:

  • “Morgana le Fay is treacherous”
  • “Queen Guinevere is haunted by her mistakes”
  • “Sir Lancelot is French”
  • “Sir Gawaine is usually drunk…”

“Secrets will be uncovered. Hearts will be broken. People will die. But maybe, just maybe, King Arthur can be saved…”

Every game is different in Pendragon, thanks to the game board being randomized every time. You’ll face rogues and Sir Mordred’s dark knights in the Dark Ages. In the game’s strategic yet simple combat system, position is important, but losses are bound to happen. Every turn will write the story of the current playthrough of the game. It is built from your chosen path across the game board. This means that your choices, and those of your enemies, matter. Will King Arthur be forced to face Sir Mordred alone, or with allies to aid him?

You’ll need to create your own band of knights, heroes, and peasants for the adventure ahead. Their abilities and dispositions can grow and change, as a new story unfolds in each playthrough of Pendragon. Not even your leader is safe!

“There will be love, suspicion, revenge, sacrifice and murder.”

You can find out more about Pendragon at the official website, and on the Steam page. Here are some screenshots the developers unveiled:

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
