Well guys and gals, I hoped this Nintendo Download would build off the momentum of last week’s, but sadly it’s gone the other way. This is a super short and sweet Nintendo Download. That said, there is a very interesting featured title, a new mobile event, the usual sales and a few digital games to enjoy. Let’s start with a surprising new RPG from the folks behind Professor Layton and YO-KAI Watch.
LEVEL-5 has proven they’re capable of tackling different genres in the past, ranging from puzzle to sports to RPGs. So while it’s true they’ve done various genres before, I was still surprised to see that today’s featured title is also by them. It’s called SNACK WORLD: THE DUNGEON CRAWL — GOLD. That’s a mouthful. It looks to be a single or multiplayer experience where you fight monsters and crawl dungeons. If you’re a fan of customization, you’ll be happy to hear you have complete control over your playable character’s appearance. You can also summon “snacks”, portraits of monsters brought to life. If that wasn’t enough, SNACK WORLD will also include a bunch of free DLC from the original Japanese release. If nothing else, it sounds interesting. Let’s continue this Nintendo Download with a brand spanking new event.
- Show Off Your Maneuvers on the Streets of Vancouver – Take to the streets of Vancity! The limited-time event, Vancouver Tour, has begun in the Mario Kart Tour game***. During this two-week tour through the Great White North, you’ll get to vie for victory on the new track, Vancouver Velocity. For the first week, Rosalina currently shines in the spotlight with her Comet Tail kart and Luma Parafoil glider combo. Her Ice Flower is just the cool tool you’ll need to freeze your competition in their tracks. . For next week’s Nintendo Download, there’s only a couple compelling looking digital games. First off is a compilation of a bunch of hardcore SHMUPs in Psikyo Shooting Stars Bravo. The other is the oddly titled 3000th Duel, which nevertheless looks like an interesting monster mash with notes of Castlevania.
Now for this Nintendo Download’s digital goodies. While there are no retro gems this week, there are a couple adventure titles – the sweet and artsy Florence and the horrifying Rise of Insanity. Fans of frenetic action might enjoy Darksiders Genesis. If you like quirky puzzles and rhythm, try Glass Masquerade 2: Illusions and Kitty Maestro. Lastly, platformer fiends might appreciate Goblin Sword and Reed Remastered.
Not a bad batch, but still a bit shorter than I’d hoped. Thanks as always for tuning into oprainfall for your weekly Nintendo Download, and hopefully next time it will be chock full of games!
