Neowiz and JellySnow Studio are bringing the world a new roguelike-like (otherwise known as a rogue-light) in the form of there new game, Metal Unit, that just hit Steam Early Access today.
Metal Unit is a 2D action platformer with procedurally generated elements that takes place in a future where mankind must take back it’s home from the the monsters and machines that have taken it. It features an anime pixel-art aesthetic and the random elements you’d expect like level design and equipment that make each playthrough a unique experience, but it also features a persistent skill tree applicable to all your playthroughs that provides that rogue-light experience. Metal Unit is out on Steam Early Access now for $14.99, though if you act fast you can pick it up for 20% off. You can expect the finished product sometime later in April of this year, and you can also give it a spin over at PAX East in Boston. Checkout the press release below for more info:
SEATTLE – Feb. 3, 2020 | Metal Unit, the sprawling roguelite platformer published by NEOWIZ and developed by JellySnow Studio, has officially released on Steam in Early Access, available now for $14.99 USD. A full release on Steam is planned for April 2020, with opportunities for hands-on demos at PAX East 2020 in Boston, Feb. 27 to Mar. 1.
Crafted in a beautiful sci-fi pixel-art style, Metal Unit is a 2D side-scrolling action packed experience telling the tragic story of humanity’s battle to reclaim its home from the clutches of monsters and machines. Employing classic roguelite elements, such as equipment and items on death, alongside a persistent, point based research tree, players will unlock new items and skills with every playthrough. With no shortage of weapons and attacks to choose from, players can easily adapt and gear every session towards their own unique playstyle.

Packed with content, the Early Access release of Metal Unit includes two difficulty modes, Normal and Hell, three main stages and chapters, more than 50 unique enemy types, and hundreds of obtainable items to utilize.
Metal Unit is currently available on Steam Early Access for $14.99 USD, and will be available for 20% off during the initial two weeks. The game currently supports English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. A release on console is planned for later in 2020.
