Just Shapes & Beats | Shovel Knight 4

I’ve been a fan of Just Shapes & Beats for a very long time now. And while it’s true I got into the game a bit late, that doesn’t diminish how much I enjoy this creative rhythm game. You’ll be able to see just how much I enjoy it in an upcoming impressions piece, but in the meantime we have some news for today. As of December 4th, there’s a new collaboration coming for Just Shapes & Beats, and it’s with another of my other favorite games ever – the venerable Shovel Knight!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This collaboration is coming to every system that Just Shapes & Beats is available on, and you can unlock the Shovel Knight mixtape songs randomly via Challenge Mode, or you can even use amiibo! Oh and did I mention this update is totally free? That’s a lot of exciting news for this fan of both game series, but you can read even more below via the official press release. And be sure to check out the sweet trailer at the very end.

Just Shapes & Beats | Shovel Knight 3

Just Shapes & Beats is about to get… Shovelier. Berzerk Studio has teamed up with Yacht Club Games for Just Shapes & Beats’ second Mixtape which will be available on all platforms on December 4th. Four all-new and exclusive remixes of beloved Shovel Knight tracks get the Just Shapes & Beats chaotic co-op musical bullet-hell treatment based on Plague Knight, Specter Knight, King Knight… and of course Shovel Knight. Duh.

Just Shapes & Beats | Shovel Knight 7

Our good buddies over at Yacht Club Games are releasing a bunch of new Shovel Knight things so we thought “hey what if we tried to do Shovel Knight tracks for Just Shapes & Beats, that could be raaaaad.” and so we did.

These new tracks are *exclusive* remixes from some of our favorite composers, and are based on the blue knight and his nemeses… nemesii?.. nemesiseses?… based on Plague Knight, Specter Knight and King Knight!

Danimal Cannon – Strike the Earth! (remix)
Rainbowdragoneyes – Flowers of Antimony (remix)
Kubbi – In the Halls of the Usurper (remix)
Shirobon – La Danse Macabre (remix) <— BRAND NEW BOSS

Just Shapes & Beats | Shovel Knight 8

You can play these tracks randomly over in Challenge mode, unlock them in in the Playlist with Beat Points, orrrr…

This update also brings a new age, filled with wonders and technological magic, where we have *amiibo support*!! If you own any of the Shovel Knight Amiibo you can unlock their respective tracks by tapping them on the stick, just don’t make it weird if people are looking; THEY’RE ACTION FIGURES, MOM.

If you have any other (and we mean ANY other) you use them once a day as well to collect 100 Beat Points, up to five per day, if my math is correct that’s FIVE HUNDRED BEAT POINTS A DAY OMG.

SO YEAH we hope you enjoy all of this sweet sweet content, have fun and see y’all in a bit!

– Your pals, the JS&B team.
