I don’t know about you guys, but I’m still recovering from yesterday’s Direct. But the Nintendo Download waits for no one, so here’s the latest batch of games out this week. Sure it lacks those drool worthy releases a month or more out, but there’s still plenty of great games to check out. Let’s see what’s worth playing.
One of the more surprising games shown during the Direct today was Tetris 99. A free to play, battle royale version of the classic puzzle game available to anybody who opts into the Switch Online service. I thought that was a pretty great deal, personally, and downloaded it soon after the Direct finished. Not only is this version of Tetris exclusive to the Switch, it also boasts future online events. Another classic game announced yesterday is Final Fantasy IX. Sure, it’s been out for a while, but it’s never been playable on a Nintendo console. And while the adventures of Zidane weren’t my favorite FF outing, it’s worth it for Vivi alone. The next game isn’t exactly old enough to be a classic, but it’s still a port. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker came to the Switch not too long ago, but now it’s getting new content in the form of a Special Episode DLC. This offers 18 new challenges and 5 new courses. That’s a hefty amount of extra adventure for everybody’s favorite Toad. If you prefer something more niche, OlliOlli comes to the Switch with the subtitle Switch Stance. And if you want time traveling crazy, Steins;Gate Elite also hits the Switch. Next let’s check out some new entrants to the Switch Online service.

- Super Mario Bros. 2 – Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad embark on a quest together to save the day against the villainous Wart. Pick up items and throw them at your adversaries to clear levels in seven fantastical worlds. Even enemies can be picked up and tossed across the screen.
