One of the games I’ve most been anticipating in 2019, after the initial delay, has been Dragon Marked for Death. Which is strange, since usually I could care less about games that encouraged cooperative play with a group. But this is an exception, for a couple of reasons. First, it’s by Inti Creates, which have had a hand in making many of the games I’ve loved over the past few years. It’s also different cause this is a 2D pixelated adventure, and I eat those up like candy. So not only have I been willing to give this a chance, I wholeheartedly back it.
The game is right around the corner now, so Inti Creates has been sharing some details about how the release will be handled. For one thing, if you’ve been on the eShop recently, you may have noticed you can pre-purchase the digital version. Not only that, but there are two options for pre-purchases. One features the base game with the more physical characters (called Frontline Fighters) and the other features the more technical ones (called Advanced Attackers). Each is priced at $14.99 individually. While that initially confused me, it sounds like the reasoning was to offer the game cheaper alternatives than spending $30 to get all 4 of the playable characters.
You may be wondering why to bother pre-purchasing Dragon Marked for Death. After all, the game is out in just a couple weeks. But Inti Creates is offering a pretty nifty incentive to invest early. Namely, you’ll get the Striker Gear Pack. This offers 4 different weapons, one for each of the character classes, to power yourself up. And you can only get them by pre-purchasing the game through January 30th or one other option – buying the physical version!
Yes, there’s a physical version of the game coming to North America and Europe. Not only does it offer some sexy box art, but it also gives players access to all 4 of the classes as well as the Striker Gear Pack. If that wasn’t enough, it will additionally provide access to DLC quests that are upcoming. Inti Creates partnered with Nighthawk Interactive to bring us this version of the game, and it will cost $49.99. The only downside is that there’s no set release date yet, but stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.
I was already excited about Dragon Marked for Death, and now that excitement has reached a fever pitch. January 31st, 2019 can’t get here soon enough. I’m so glad Inti Creates is bringing us a game that’s been in the works for a decade, and to one of my favorite consoles. If you’ve ever wondered why to bother getting a Switch over the other consoles, here’s a compelling argument. Be sure to stay tuned to oprainfall for more info about Dragon Marked for Death, as well as our eventual review coverage.
