Melmetal

The newest addition to the Pokémon lore, Meltan, now has an evolutionary form named Melmetal. This creature marks the first evolution of a Mythical Pokémon, and not just an alternate form as seen with some previous ones. The Hex Nut Pokémon is a pure Steel-type comes with its own move, Double Iron Bash, also a Steel-type move that can strike opponents twice.

Here is the official skinny on Melmetal’s mythological origins:

Melmetal was worshiped in ancient times as a Pokémon with the power to create metal. Because of its Evolution from Meltan, its body has hardened and is now incredibly sturdy. Melmetal is made of liquid metal, and its flexible arms can be whipped forward to deliver a devastating punch.

Melmetal can only be obtained through Pokémon GO on mobile by evolving a Meltan with 400 candies. From there, it can be obtained in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! by transferring it from mobile to the Switch. Meltan itself can be obtained by transferring critters from GO into Let’s Go! for a mystery box that triggers Meltan to appear in the wild for a brief time.

Melmetal

The 809th Pokémon Melmeta is set to debut this fall in Pokémon GO and Pokémon: Let’s Go!. The latest entries in the Pokémon series borrows ideas and mechanics from the mobile sensation to create an experience tailored to series beginners. Details on when Meltan will start appearing for Pokémon GO players are forthcoming.
