Good news and bad news. First, the good news is that there are some great and very creative new Nintendo games to check out today. The bad news? There’s not a lot of anything else. Meaning no sales or other noteworthy events. So we’ll cover those games that look the most interesting, and finish up this Nintendo Download a bit earlier than usual.
First up is Floor Kids. Despite the silly title, the game looks to be a fun breakdance competition game with original hand drawn art and a soundtrack by Kid Koala. If you enjoy musical games, this might be worth a try. For fans of hard as nails retro goodies, The End Is Nigh comes to the Nintendo Switch next week, and offers the latest insane adventure from Ed McMullen. Explore the apocalypse with this dark new platformer.
Next up, if you’re a fan of Animal Crossing, there’s a new holiday update below:
- Happy Holidays, Animal Crossing Fans! – Did you already download the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp game on your smart device? You can build your own dream campsite and invite adorable animal friends to hang out! You can also visit your friends’ campsites, craft your own furniture and lots more fun things. Now is the perfect time to join in the fun, as a limited-time holiday event just started. Unlock seasonal outfits and collect in-game candy canes to craft cute holiday-themed items. To help everyone get into the holiday spirit, we’re giving away a Santa hat for your campsite manager. Be sure to check your in-game mailbox!
- By the way, did you know that linking your Nintendo Account to the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp game can help save your in-game progress? Sign up today and keep your camp data!
Also for Animal Crossing, there are 3 new 3DS Themes to adorn your portable with – Winter Frolics, Jingle’s Toy Day and Isabelle. If that’s not enough, you can redeem points on My Nintendo to get discounts on Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Happy Home Designer.
Now let’s close out with some digital goodies. First up is Dimension Drive, a fascinating take on a standard SHMUP, with a stronger focus on story. You can read more about that one in my review. If you need more SHMUPs in your life, you might want to also check out Gunbird and Vostok Inc. If you want something a bit more laid back, you could check out The Sexy Brutale or Plague Road. If you want a unique experience, Embers of Mirrim more than qualifies. If you missed it when it released on other consoles, today you can check out fantastic indie Teslagrad on Switch. If you want some hardcore violence, try out Slain: Back From Hell. Or if you just want action without unnecessary violence, give a look at Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Overdrive. If you want to cruise along, try 80’s Overdrive on your 3DS. For the retro inclined, check out ACA NEOGEO’s latest, Top Hunter Roddy and Cathy (god that name is horrible). If you like crazy puzzle games, maybe you’d enjoy Red Game Without a Great Name. Lastly, if you are hankering for some Advance Wars style gameplay, ACORN Tactics looks to deliver. Oh and if you want to demo some games, you can try out Lost Sphear and Robonauts today.
Despite the sheer volume of digital games, this was still a small Nintendo Download. Hopefully you’re a fan of Animal Crossing or find a winner in one of these other new names. I can personally recommend Dimension Drive, though I’m considering checking out Gunbird, Red Game Without a Great Name and ACORN Tactics. Let us know what games you’re planning on getting, and check back with oprainfall next week for the latest Download!
