Aquaplus has lifted the lid on their latest project in this weeks Weekly Famitsu. It will be a remake of the PS2/PSP console version of the original Utawarerumono strategy RPG/visual novel hybrid that was made following it’s original PC release back in 2002. It will be released on both PS4 and PS Vita and is titled Utawarerumono: Chiriyuku Mono e no Komoriuta. The remake features all the scenes in HD, a high resolution opening movie, a “Special Extended Mode” featuring enhanced music and fully 3D battlefields.
It will be releasing on 26th April 2018 in multiple packages. These are a standard Edition for 6,800 yen, a premium edition for 9,800 yen (which features an anime Blu-ray featuring a young Kuon, a visual book and a soundtrack CD), a Trilogy Box for 12,000 yen (contents not detailed) as well as an “Aquaplus Limited Box” for 29,800 yen (contents of this are also not detailed).
Additionally, the president of Aquaplus, Naoya Shimokawa, has expressed large interest in PlayStation VR however has said it is likely that this remake will not feature any PSVR content. This remake has the tagline “The starting point is now, to a new beginning” with new “various developments” planned that start with this new title.
Utawarerumono: Chiriyuku Mono e no Komoriuta willl be releasing in Japan on 26 April 2018 for PS4 and PS Vita. The sequels, Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth are currently available worldwide for PS4 and PS Vita (as well as on PS3 in Japan).
