If you’ve been a reader of oprainfall for the last few years, then you know that back in 2015 there was a certain game for the PS3 that we adored. A game about conquering the world alongside female versions of many famous historical figures. A game by the name of Eiyuu Senki – The World Conquest.
As much as we loved the game already, we always wondered if the original 18+ version of the title would somehow make the journey West. And I’m now pleased to say it has.
On October 24, 2017, JAST USA released Eiyu*Senki – The World Conquest on their online store, with the All-Ages Steam version dated for release on November 10th.
For those of you who have no idea what Eiyu*Senki is let me summarize.
In a world where to the conquest of all nations is the goal, several world powers have come into existence. There is Britannia, ruled by the beautiful Arthur and protected by her loyal knights. The European Union is an alliance of several smaller nations, headed by Napoleon who has the support of great leaders like Julius Caesar and Hannibal. The new nation of America is in the care of Christopher Colombus and her friend Billy the Kid. And then, in their own little section of the world sits the small nation of Zipang.
Zipang is in the midst of a civil war between Oda Nobunaga and Himiko who wants to unite the world in peace… through conquest. In the midst of their battle and (Himiko’s delusions of what Nobunaga is going to do to her if she loses) a young man falls from the sky. This hero, who stands by Himiko’s side will not only be the key to peace but may also shed some light on the mysteries of the world itself.
If you’re still wondering just how much of an impact this game had on us, let me just give you the list of all the awards and nominations the PS3 version of the game garnered from us:

The game was previously released onto the PS3 under the title Eiyuu Senki but suffered from removed content, deemed too mature for the platform. This new release, Eiyu*Senki, is closer to the original Japanese game, with both the standard and uncut versions including scenes not released on the PS3. These new editions also featured an updated and improved translation, making the store come alive more than before. The uncut version, releasing through JAST USA, also includes all the unlockable romance scenes, now fully uncensored for the first time.

Game Summary
Eiyu*Senki is a hybrid game that merges the storytelling depth of visual novels with the gameplay of a tactical sim. Your goal is to conquer the world in the name of peace, and along the way you’ll be able to recruit over 70 historical figures as allies, such as Marco Polo, King Arthur, Rasputin, Aristotle, all genderbent as cute girls.
Story
Set in a world run by powerful nations where heroes battle one another for control, Britannia wishes to unite the world through peace, while the European Union has taken an aggressive stance. The seafaring nation of Vinland thrives on pillaging and plundering, while far to the East, the island country of Zipang is faced with civil war. In the midst of all this Himiko, a ruler in Zipang, seeks to unite the world for the sake of peace. Her ambitions are high but so far she has only seen defeat. One day, while retreating from battle, a mysterious hero falls from the sky and joins Himiko’s cause. The two now set their sights on the war burning around them.
Gameplay
Eiyu*Senki takes you on an adventure to the ends of the earth and back as you help Himiko save the world from an endless war. You’ll meet unique characters inspired from real historical figures and mythological icons, like King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, Rasputin, Kamehameha of Hawaii, Beethoven and many more. There are over 70 characters who can join your side, each with their own valuable battle skills and side-quest storylines. Your battle party can have up to six members, so you have literally millions of possibilities to form your “dream team” to take down monsters, zombies, dragons, and evil villains. The tactics based combat starts out simple and grows in difficulty as new enemies and abilities are unlocked, making the gameplay easy to learn yet increasingly challenging and addictive.
The leveling system is unique among RPGs, with two ways to level-up your characters’ combat effectiveness: their troops, and their relationship with you. Purchase additional troops for your teammates every turn, increasing their damage output and stamina, or complete side quests to unlock new combat skills and abilities. Our team has clocked the game at well over 30 hours of gameplay. If you are a completionist then it will take 40 to 50 hours to experience all the characters side stories. It’s a massive game that is super fun to play!
