We’ve had a few great back to back weeks of game filled Nintendo Downloads, but all good things must come to an (temporary) end. So this one is going to be short and sweet, but I fully expect that we’ll have more hefty Downloads in the comings weeks. Also on that note, during the week of PAX West, which is September 1-4th, there will be no Download, since myself and another oprainfall writer will be covering the show. But fret not, since the week afterwards I’ll be back and ready for more Nintendo goodness. So, let’s see what’s interesting this week.
First up, if you were ever interested in Minecraft: Story Mode but didn’t want to get the experience piecemeal, then you’re in luck. Minecraft: Story Mode – The Complete Adventure is coming to the Switch on August 22nd. It will feature all 5 episodes of Season 1, as well as the Adventure Pass episodes. So if you like Telltale’s style and the voice stylings of Patton Oswalt, I would recommend you check this out soon.
Once more the Game Guide is kaput, so we’ll be focusing on My Nintendo this week. Using your valuable points, you can pick up some nice discounts and some fun wallpapers. For games, you can get 30% off the following – Tank Troopers and the somewhat divisive The Wonderful 101. If you want digital art, then you can get wallpapers for both Flip Wars and Tank Troopers. Lastly, if you want to make your 3DS a controller for your Wii U, you can also redeem points to get the Smash Bros. controller app.
Finally, there are some new digital games I would check out this week (we’ll save the best for last though). The ACA NEOGEO series has a new release in Magician Lord, which looks like Ninja Gaiden mixed with Harry Potter. If you have a need for speed, Sky Ride looks like frenetic fun. For those who enjoy roguelikes on their portables, Alchemic Dungeons looks like classic fun. But if you want something utterly fantastic from the minds behind Mutant Mudds, then do yourself a favor and check out Chicken Wiggle! I praised it pretty highly in my review, for solid mechanics and a robust level editor. On that note, I myself have several levels I’ve already uploaded, but if you want some of my favorites, perhaps check out the following stages – Up, Up and Away!, Ghost Ship, Burrow Box, Candy Land?! and Rumble Dome.
