BATTLETECH was showcased at the PC Gaming Show E3 conference. The developer displayed and discussed many elements which will hopefully make the game stand out. It is primarily a turn-based strategy game. The setting is about a commander who was overthrown by her uncle. As a mere mercenary, you need to assist her while trying to keep costs to a minimum and develop your mechs in order to combat the opposing army effectively.
As for gameplay discussions, there were many details covered. One element is disabling certain mech parts in order to fully disable their abilities. This is to place emphasis on tactical prowess rather than just simply overcoming the enemy. One must also worry about overheating, as that will completely disable a mech’s capabilities rendering it useless temporarily. Another important aspect is using the environment in order to lessen the damage done to your ally mechs.
Modes also include two types of skirmishes as well as the mercenary campaign mode. The game is attempting to place a larger focus on single-player content as opposed to multi-player content. Fans of BATTLETECH have a lot to look forward to, courtesy of Harebrained Schemes and Paradox Interactive.
