Dark Souls III - The Fire Fades Edition XboxOne Dark Souls III - The Fire Fades Edition PS4

Bandai Namco Entertainment America has released Dark Souls III – The Fire Fades Edition on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but not on PC. This new bundle will cost you $49.99, and it comes with both of the DLCs for the game (Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City). The Dark Souls III – The Fire Fades Edition is available in retail stores, but the press release does not mention any digital version. FROM SOFTWARE, a renowned Japanese game development studio, developed it.

Dark Souls III: The Ringed City DLC

While this bundle provides you with the full Dark Souls III experience in one package and on one disc, there is a problem. PC players will not be so happy. It’s not so much because the bundle is not available for them, but because the same content on PC will cost you significantly more.

Purchasing the game and the season pass for both DLCs on Steam will get you everything in Dark Souls III – The Fire Fades Edition. The problem is that it will cost you $84.98 to get it all on PC rather than $49.99! In short, on PC you’re paying a hair less than 1.7 times (or 70%) more than if you get the bundle for Xbox One or PS4! That’s a pretty ridiculous pricing disparity here that makes it look like they are just gouging their PC players now.

About Michael Fontanini

Michael is a veteran gamer in my early 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES and SNES. He loves Nintendo but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks or bike rides, and loves animals.

Michael is also a computer programmer. This started with a toy he got as a kid called PreComputer 1000 that was made by V-Tech. It had a simple programming mode which is what started him down the road of being a programmer! Michael can program in BASIC, Visual Basic, C++, C#, and is familiar with Java and Lua Script.

Putting programming and gaming together, Michael became a hobbyist game developer which may give him some good insights on game development! Most recently, he has been playing with the free version of the Unity engine (a powerful and easy-to-use game engine).

I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.

    They’re probably just being slow

  • Mr0303

With these complete editions it’s pretty difficult justifying a day-1 purchase with AAA games.

    • Zeonis

Depends on the game but I am glad I waited on this one.

    • Mr0303

The only AAA games I buy day-1 are those that I 100% know I’ll like. There are also some publishers that have proven to release complete editions quite regularly like Capcom and WB, so it’s best to avoid those if possible.

  • Panpopo

Yeah, the PC version will come out eventually.

    • Zeonis

      So certain are we?

    • Panpopo

Yep, it’s a matter of when. Not sure when, but it will happen.

That’s fine too, as I know there are a lot of Dark Souls fans on PC.

    • Zeonis

You are probably right. Before most games were exclusive to consoles but not as many these days. Also, Dark Souls III is already on PC.
