Dies irae ~Acta est Fabula~ cover art

dies irae

Dies irae will soon be getting a Kickstarter for an English Edition as a visual novel that will hit Steam. This new edition will be filled with additional scenarios, though will be released in two parts due to the length of the game. Should a certain stretch goal be met, the game will also release on the PS Vita as well. You can find all the information about the game over here.

But if you wish to know more about the game and features, read on below:

STORY:

May 1, 1945- Germany.
On the eve of Berlin’s collapse, a group of men and women carried out a certain ritual. To them, suffering defeat in the war meant nothing. If anything, the countless lives lost in the battle served as a catalyst to their sacrificial ceremony. Whether or not their attempt bore fruit ― not a soul knows. Following the war, they faded from sight, mind, and eventually into the realm of myth.

61 years later ― Japan, 2006.
Ren Fujii, a young man attending high school in Suwahara City, finds his friendship with his old buddy Shirou Yusa shatter to pieces following a certain incident, ending in a vicious fight that sees Ren hospitalized for two months.

dies-irae-2

The season shifts from autumn to winter ― to the dawning weeks of December, with Christmas on the horizon. Having lost his best friend, Ren leaves the hospital with the intention to rebuild his new life without Shirou.

But even that plan soon falls apart.
Irrationality that defies the realm of common sense begins to assault and devour the city. Abnormalities soon seek to destroy everything Ren holds dear before his eyes with overwhelming violence.

dies-irae-4

He must change, even if it means crossing the boundary between the ordinary and the extraordinary. His desires are hardly anything grand. All he wants is to return to those days of old. Back to those days filled with simple, everyday joy.

dies-irae-5

The battle with the Longinus Dreizehn Orden.
A continuation of that war full of madness, carnage, and maledictions.
What future awaits Ren at the end of his road…?

PRODUCT DETAILS:

“Dies irae ~Amantes amentes~” will be released on Steam in two parts.
The first part will contain Kasumi and Marie’s routes, while the second part
will cover Kei and Rea’s routes. As it generally takes at least 60+ hours to play through the entire story, we would have no choice but to sell the game at a higher price point, were we to offer it all in one part. So that a wider audience would be able to enjoy the world of Dies irae, we have decided to separate the story into two parts. Rest assured that backers will have access to both parts once they are
completed. The game will also be polished to fit the current system environments.

Expected Release Date

We plan for Parts 1 and 2 to be released in May 2017.

Expanded Resolution

Resolution will be expanded from the old 800×600 to 1280×768, as well as expanded support for different resolutions for more beautiful graphics.

16:9 Support

As a result of expanded graphics, the game will support 16:9 aspect ratio in addition to the old 4:3.

Enhanced Effects

To match the graphic effects with the expanded artwork, the old effects will also be reworked.

Compatibility

Use of current game engine allows for support on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.

System Tweaks

The UI including menus and options will be updated to fit the current systems.

Scenes of explicit violence that were altered in the original Japanese version of ~Amantes amentes~ will be fully uncensored. Such CGs will appear as the creators originally intended them.

Furthermore, a free, separate patch restoring the full 18+ version content will be available for backers at no additional cost. Details concerning the patch are forthcoming.

It’s currently unknown if the adult version would hit the Vita as well, though highly unlikely. Nor is there any word on stretch goals to other consoles. But what are your thoughts on this game? Do you think it will be worth picking up? Are you excited for the anime coming in 2017? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!
