WayForward has released the latest Kickstarter update for their crowdfunded project, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero.
Firstly, they announced that the game has been delayed by 6 weeks in order to allow additional time for the game to be refined and polished. They also reveal that the game is “content complete,” meaning that the game’s content is itself complete and their focus is on bugfixing on all platforms before getting the games sent off to the first party publishers for quality assurance and approval. This also includes sending the game off for manufacturing for the physical release, which is being provided by XSEED Games in the US for PS4, PS Vita and Wii U.
WayForward also confirmed that the translations for every language in the game are also complete, and will be sent off to the ratings boards this week. Additionally, they also announce that due to only 1% of backers opting for the last gen platforms, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game have been cancelled with WayForward opting to focus on the DLC for the game instead.
On a more positive note, WayForward started to discuss the DLC plan for the game, with the two bonus chapters that were stretch goals for the campaign being included alongside the main game, with the various DLC characters and outfits arriving as soon as possible, including additional characters and “Risky Mode.” This also includes the backer-exclusive DLC.
Shantae: Half Genie Hero will release worldwide later this year.
