I am Setsuna

The studio behind development of I am Setsuna seems to have run into some trouble. Square Enix’s Tokyo RPG Factory suffered some financial losses. According to some financial statements, Square Enix had losses of about 244 million yen through Tokyo RPG Factory. During the game’s opening week in Japan 61,623 units of the game were sold between the PS4 and the Vita. The Vita version of the game was only released in Japan.

I am Setsuna is now available on the PlayStation 4 and PC.

About Walter P

Plays too much, but still has too many games to finish. Will play any type of game and will watch anything, so is of course not good at being productive. Loves anything crazy.

  • Joe Schmoe

I would have bought this but $40 seems pretty steep for something trying to ride on old school JRPG nostalgia.

  • TK

It’s not a very good game. Bless them for trying, though!

    • Panpopo

Yeah it had it’s issues but I think it was a good first attempt. Maybe the next game will be more successful.

  • DizzyGear

I would have bought it on PS Vita but Squeenix did not want my filthy Vita money.

  • Keichi Morisato

i really hope that this isn’t the end for them.

    • Panpopo

It’s based off financials from March. The game came out last month in the west so that may save them.

  • Mr0303

I didn’t even know a Vita version existed. They should’ve brought it to the West as well. Given that it’s digital only they have no excuse not to have done so.

  • Schrodinger’s Clit

Le retro throwback shit game…. check.
    Digital only… check.
    Garbage budget… check.

  • Audie Bakerson

The game has a budget of AT LEAST ~2.4 million USD?
Seems SE still can’t budget worth a damn. Vanillaware could have made 3 games for that, and they’d be a lot more substanial than I Am Setsuna.

  • MusouTensei

Should have brought it retail, 40 bucks for a download is unacceptable for me.

    • Zeonis

Same here… I am waiting for it to be on sale or a physical release.

    • Bernfried Jablonski

      Bla Bla Bla.

  • CHRIS

The game was pretty dull and uninspired. Trekking through these boring snow environments and listening to this drab piano really doesn’t make a good JRPG experience. I honestly regretting dishing out £35 on this game. I’ve played cheap indie titles that are much better and have been made by 1 dude.

My takeaway from this article – THERE IS A JAPANESE VITA VERSION?!?!
