Dating sims are a dime a dozen, especially on a cluttered marketplace like Steam. The team at Starbeam Studio aims to do something a bit different with its Kickstarter project, Harem Protagonist, putting you in the position of a genre-savvy protagonist, lampshading many of the usual tropes that a harem anime usually has to offer. Aiding you in this experience is the charming Narrator, which brings a sort of tongue-in-cheek”public service” video quality to the whole thing.
So far Harem Protagonist has managed to make it into the Top 100 spots on Steam Greenlight, and has a Kickstarter campaign open to raise funds for developing content for the game. As usual, with projects like this backers should read and understand the risks involved with crowdfunding. But if it succeeds, we could have a potentially really funny parody on our hands. We’ve arranged an email interview with Starbeam, so you’ll be hearing more about Harem Protagonist really soon from us.
