The Pokemon Company has posted a trailer for the newest Pokemon to join the cast of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon.

The website details the Pokemon:

  • Category: Toxic Lizard Pokemon
  • Type: Poison/Fire
  • Height: 2’00”
  • Weight: 10.6 lbs.
  • Ability: Corrosion

Salandit emits toxic gas, together with flames, from the base of its tail. This poisonous gas has a sweet smell, and anyone who unknowingly breathes it in will become dizzy. Salandit is not a very powerful Pokémon, but its cunning nature allows it to battle fiercely by throwing its opponents off balance.

Salandit females not only release toxic gases, they can also emit pheromones that attract males of all species, including Pokémon and humans. Inhaling these pheromones may cause opponents to be controlled by Salandit’s will.

Salandit has the Corrosion Ability, a new Ability that no other Pokémon has possessed before. With the Corrosion Ability, it becomes possible to inflict the Poisoned status condition even on Steel- and Poison-type Pokémon.

You can watch the trailer below:

Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon are coming to the Nintendo 3DS on November 18 in NA and November 23 in EU.

I’m hoping some of these new Pokemon reveals will start looking better. I was getting excited for this new game, but the reveals have been really… lacking.

    • Sylveria Shini

Outside of the legendaries I’m really not impressed with any of the new pokemon. They’re not as “wtf” as a lot of the stuff we saw with Black/White and X/Y, but they’re just not to my tastes at all.

    • Daymon

Right? Other than the legendaries on the boxes, not a single one has caught my attention. I’m hoping the ones they’ve shown are just duds, but my hopes aren’t as high as they were.

    • Sylveria Shini

The little owl’s kinda cute. I’m hoping the other starters have some ugly duckling syndrome going on. As it is I think I’ll be loading in some PAR’d in doods from X/Y just so I have a team I don’t loathe.

    • Daymon

I’m reeeeally hoping so, too. I don’t want a team that’s ugly or bland.

Really? I’ve had the opposite reaction. I think this gen looks really cool, and I enjoy the artistic nuances that seem to tie this generation together. Salandit looks menacing and sneaky, and I love his (her?) typing. But to each their own 🙂 Art is very subjective, after all.

Hey, if you like them, I’m happy for you! They’re just… not my cup of tea. Haha.
