Nintendo announced on its support page in each region that the multiplayer servers for their Wii U game Devil’s Third will be shut down at the end of the year. In addition, the game has received a price drop on the Nintendo eShop, and the sales of in-game Golden Eggs will end at the start of next week. The changes will happen in all regions, albeit at different times.
In Japan, the price drop from 7,236 yen to 3,618 yen happened on June 24, 2016 at 10:00 AM JST. The sale of Golden Eggs ends on June 27 at 1:00 PM, and the closure of multiplayer servers is set to happen at 1:00 PM on December 29.
In America, the price dropped from $59.99 USD to $29.99 USD on June 23 at 9:00 AM PST. Golden Egg sales will end at 9:00 AM on June 27, with multiplayer servers set to shut down on December 28 at 8:00 PM.
In Europe, the price drop from £49.99 / €59.99 to £24.99 / €29.99 at midnight CEST on June 24, with Golden Egg sales set to end at 3:00 PM on June 27. Multiplayer servers are going to be closed at 5:00 AM on December 29.
In Australia, the sale of Golden Eggs is set to end at June 27 at 11:00 PM AEST, with multiplayer servers shutting down at 3:00 PM on December 29.
This news comes following the rather negative reception enjoyed by Devil’s Third when it launched in Japan on August 4, 2015, in Europe on August 28, in Australia on August 29, and in America on December 11. We were much kinder to the game than most other outlets, with the game currently enjoying a 43% rating on Metacritic.
