For nearly 20 years, Toonami has not only aired cartoons aimed at an older crowd, but it has also introduced Japanese anime to countless Western youths.

A new mini-documentory has been posted online called “We Call It Toonami – an Unofficial Toonami Documentary”. The documentary tells the story of how the animated block of shows came to be on Cartoon Network.

You can watch the documentary below:

So what do you think of Toonami and what are some memories you have of block of shows?

Thanks, @maattelias

  • The production values could have been better, however given that this was fan made, it’s understandable.

I am a big fan of Toonami. I first really got into it about 8 years ago. I remember I was living in TN at the time, and I was bored one day and found a 3 day Naruto Marathon on. That was when I got hooked and started watching it just about every Saturday night for the anime. I am glad they brought back Tom and Sara recently because I do enjoy the skits they do. Also makes it feel like Cartoon Network gives a damn since they are making the anime section on Saturday nights feel just that bit more special.
