Arcade Archives Double Dragon II – PS4 Digital (Out 2/26)
This is a pixel perfect adaptation of the classic 1988 brawler. I spent many a quarter on this one, so it’s time to get my money’s worth. While the first one is definitely a classic, most consider this one to be a better game. So if you miss brawlers, or are too young to have ever seen this classic, you may want to check it out.
Far Cry Primal – PS4 Digital, Retail
The AAA release for the week. Taking the hybrid fps/rpg engine of the most recent Far Cry and setting it in the “Stone Age”. They are obviously taking some liberties with what we know academically about that time period. But in the service of crafting a story, I do not mind at all. It mostly appears to be shortly after the last ice age, or about 10,000 BCE.
Ninja Senki DX – PS4, PS Vita Digital (Cross-Buy)
This is an 8-bit retro cool game. While it may look like an homage to Ninja Gaiden, it is in fact closer in gameplay and visuals to Mega Man. But there are no weapon powerups from bosses. It looks very well crafted for what it is, could have easily be seen as a true NES classic. And with Cross-Buy it is a very good value.
SwapQuest – PS Vita Digital
It should come as no surprise to anyone at this juncture that I’m including a retro rpg type game in here. This is a mix of the classic rpgs from the early 1990’s with tile swap puzzle games. And seems like a good game to play on the go with your Vita, especially if you are looking forward to a long plane ride.
