Koei Tecmo have launched the official Japanese website for their hunting RPG, Toukiden 2, the sequel to Toukiden: Kiwami coming to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. On the site includes a multitude of screenshots as well as details on the game system. Here is a summary of what was revealed.
Open World:
-The world of Toukiden 2 consists of one open world map.
-After leaving the starting hub in Toukiden 2, “oni” (the power of demons) will cause demons to spawn in the map.
-There are a variety of settings present in the game such as “volcanos boiling with lava” and “fortresses floating in the sky.”
-The emphasis is on exploring the open world and finding new characters and oni to interact with.
Evolved Action:
-The “Parts Destruction Action” system present in the Toukiden series has been expanded.
-A “Demon’s Hand” can be summoned that pulls the oni to the ground repeatedly.
-When an oni loses it’s arms or legs via “Complete Parts Destruction,” it’s tactics can change considerably, therefore a strategic element is added.
New Story:
-Players adopt the role of “Slayers” who battle the oni.
-The player character is engulfed by a force during a significant battle known as “Oomagadoki” and taken to “Mahoroba Village,” losing their memory in the process.
-The player is tasked with discovering the truth behind the world with the help of the other characters, battling oni in the process.
-Mahoroba Village will play a key part of a story, where lots of events will unfold.
Characters:
Player:
A Slayer who is engulfed during the Battle of Oomagadoki and taken to Mahoroba Village. An amnesiac.
Hakase:
A Slayer who wields guns, and does R&D on devices. Created the “Demon’s Hand” as well as Tokitsugu, a marionette. An excavator of ancient ruins, searching for the “truth of the world.”
Tokitsugu:
Hakase’s gun-wielding marionette, which contains a human soul. Adopts the older brother role in the party, pulling along other Slayers.
Gwen:
A sword-wielding British girl who gets caught in Oomagadoki but becomes a Slayer after she’s recruited by a special unit on a mountain. Her sword is called Nailing.
Demons:
Shinragou:
A large demon that led the oni armada that overran the world during Oomagadoki ten years prior to the start of the game. Name means that it gulps everything down, originating from stars that cause a solar eclipse.
Hidaru:
A demon with long arms and stomach, said to be an old child. Commands a group of smaller oni that can be ordered to attack the player.
