Pokemon is going all-out for its 20th anniversary. Among the various special-edition handhelds and original Gameboy rereleases, Nintendo has announced that eleven Pokemon will be available for 3DS players to download, one for each remaining month of 2016.

The Pokemon, months, and locations are as follows:

February – Mew (Gamestop)

March – Celebi (Nintendo Network)

April – Jirachi (Nintendo Network)

May – Darkrai (Gamestop)

June – Manaphy (Nintendo Network)

July – Shaymin (Nintendo Network)

August – Arceus (Gamestop)

September – Victini (Nintendo Network)

October – Keldeo (Nintendo Network)

November – Genesect (Gamestop)

December – Meloetta (Nintendo Network)

As each Pokemon is Mythical, none of them are obtainable through normal gameplay, making this celebration a great boon for Pokedex completionists. You have to wonder though… what happened to poor Deoxys? In any case, the first download starts in a matter of weeks, so brace your Pokemon Bank accounts ready for something truly legendary!

About Demitri Camperos

Demitri has been playing video games since his six year-old self raked enough leaves for a Gameboy Color and Pokemon Red. He loves long RPGs, Cowboy Bebop, and hunting for "the perfect game" (he's pretty convinced it's Final Fantasy X).
