Bandai Namco US has made several localization announcements this morning on their YouTube channel, one of them being Tales of Berseria, which will be coming to PS4 and Steam. The trailer shows protagonist Velvet as she battles werewolves with a mutated claw hand, and describes the game as a “Tale of Emotion Versus Reason.” The official Tales blog has more details on Berseria’s story:
The next game in the long running “Tales of” series is Tales of Berseria, a tale of emotion versus reason! Coming on PlayStation 4 and PC Digital including Steam, the story will focus on Velvet, the first female solo main character. You will embark on a journey and assume the role of Velvet, a young woman whose once gentle nature has been replaced and overcome with a festering anger and hatred after a traumatic experience three years prior to the events within TALES OF BERSERIA imbued her left hand with a special ability.
The game will explore the confrontation between Velvet and her strong emotions, and those who forego emotion and stick with reason. The immense power in her left hand is not only key to the storyline but symbolizes her fury! She is designed by Mutsumi Inomata.
Laphicet, a boy who supports Velvet, is designed by Minoru Iwamoto and voiced in Japanese by Azumi Asakura. While Velvet is the embodiment of “Shadow”, this new character is created in the image of “Light”, playing a really important role in the storyline.
Of course, one can’t talk about a new Tales game without mentioning the Linear Motion Battle System, and this will see some updates and changes for Berseria as well. You can now free run by default, as well as assign multiple artes to a single button, allowing you to string together combos easier. The character designers from Tales of Zestiria have been working on this game, and ufotable will be handling the in game anime cutscenes. No release date has been announced yet, but we will keep you posted as more Tales of Berseria news rolls in.
